View Full Version : How soon to detail? How soon to detail? bcls99 04-06-2004, 12:03 PM Also - looking for a matte-finish interior cleaner. Any thoughts? Thanks! BullShifter 04-06-2004, 12:35 PM You can clean it as soon as you want. I bet the actual production date is at least 1 month old, most likely more. When I worked for BMW & Honda, both places would send the cars out for detail right away. The high-speed polishing is nice right away on new paint because most factory paint is pretty bad coverd w/ orange peel. Just use very mild polish/wax on new paint & you wont have a problem. matte interior cleaner: Vinyl/plastic - WET CHAMOIS works best, or if the surface is very dirty use an all purpose cleaner Leather: your best off using LEATHER products follower by a wipe down with water after treatment. Also the wet chamois can be used on leather to wipe down. mcpbw 04-24-2004, 09:12 PM before you apply anything to the finish consult with the manufacturer, different paint manufacturers have different cure times. You can polish and apply a glaze at anytime but you should not wax or use a sealant until it is fully cured. during the cure period (anywhere from 1-3 months) the paint needs to be able to breathe, by waxing or sealing early you may cause the paint to "fisheye" or can even void the warranty on the paint.
