The RX-8 is one that springs to mind for me.
There was so much riding on the RX-7 when they were considering bringing the RX back. I thought it was too much changed when the first mag. articles came out for the RX-8. The back end isn't too pleasing too my eye, but now it's passable. It kills performance and price wise against the competition.
Cars that get better when they age is always a sign of a new classic, so I'm glad I didn't originally like it.

When my dad first bought his SVT Focus I hated it. But now it's grown on me. It's no Cobra but it's fun to drive and comfortable.

well when it first came out i really hated the look of the chevy lumina SS and the newer shape too. but they've both grown on me and i love em. Same with wrx's which looked too japaneesy for me but i love em too.

At 1st I hated the car, and Toyota for what they did to the MR2. I thought it was signifcantly uglier and much slower.

But after driving one, I realized that they took the MR2 back to its roots, a small, lightweight sports car. It IS underpowered but the car has grown on me, and I've seen some very good looking ones, and the 2ZZ or 3S-GTE engine swaps more than make up for that underpowered engine.

At first I hated the 2001 Impreza WRX's I thought they looked like corollas but now I think they look decent after the jdm lights swap.

i'd say the rx8...wen it came out, i immediately didn't like it (the way it looked to be exact), it's specs were alrite...nothing spectacular....but it's grown on me after awhile....and got to drive it once so it got on my good side after that hehe...

The new Impreza's look great, now that they fixed those ugly ass headlights. Even though I'd still rather have a 22B.

They should at least get some TRD parts for people want to have a better car...also, make it a hard top, PLEASE.

the car that grew on me was the lamborghini murcielago. at first, it looked to big and seemed to go away from lamborghini's edgy design, but then it grew on me, especially when i saw one last summer.

i actually thought the rx-8 would be different....the rx-7 were kinda sporty..but the rx-8 isnt...its more of a family type sports wanabe....BUT...besides the family factor...the 1.3-1.7 (whatever it is) rotary engine is WAY better when it comes to power..they actually put the exhaust ports in the right place this time..and the almost 50-50 weight distribution makes the car a nice track car...and the rotary engine makes a nice 230hp...not too bad...

Because the Headlights are oversized, and pop up way too much, also, having a wide mouth is the key too...

I know everyone will probably want to kill me over this, but the one vehicle that I have grown to like is the Pontiac Aztek. I love the styling inside and out, and the unique tent feature doesn't hurt either, the only thing that I am not crazy about is the engine.

There's a kit from Kuegel engineering that allows you to swap in a rear drive driveline and either 5.0 V8 or new 4.6 cammer V8. As well there's a company I think called ASI who'll swap in a new Mustang Cobra engine, 6speed, and driveline complete with IRS.

oh yeah the Focus was a car that grew on me. Um Gonenuts I do want to kill you for that, but I love the comparo you've got there so it's OK. People Laugh vs People Drool love it. As far as other cars that grew on me let's see - Dodge Avenger (hated the front drive still do but like the looks) I'll think of more later.

I know a lot about Japanese cars, there are many Japanese cars I like. However I hate it when they look like that! As well I hate front drivers (import and domestic) I'd take offense if you called me a redneck and hope you don't mean to say that I am. Cars like Supras can look good but some people destroy them by putting on all those tacky stickers, obnoxious body kits, ridiculuos spoilers, and fart trumpet exhaust systems.

Not that I really truly hate them it's just can't bring myself to like them. My favorite cars are all rear drive (Mustang, Viper, Corvette, GT40 (GT), Supra, 300ZX, etc etc) with one or two exceptions. My cousin bought a Focus I've ridin in it it's a good car but just not my thing.

Theres no fighting with Jimster. He apparently also has something personal against me. He has since almost my first post here. He is one of the reasons that I am not as active on this website as I used to be. Well, I wasn't a fan of '59 Impalas at first because I thought they were a little overdone, but then I got a chance to see a 100% original car (my cousin Barry's unrestored white with red interior '59 Impala, 117 original miles) and got to appreciate just how unbelievable graceful the car is. For a car of its size it's very light and airy in its styling, and has a low sleek look.

Now I inifinitely prefer the look of the 1959 Impala's to the (now in my eyes) plain and boxy 1957 Bel Airs.

Soooo, wouldn't calling people "rednecks" hurt people's feelings also? I think that's a generalization also. Not to mention where that term "Redneck" came from, since they are farmers working on the crops, their necks get sunburned. So they are rednecks, so basically they are being insulted for feeding America. Not to mention the farmers in any other country, but this derogatory term seems to focus on Americans.

How would mexicans like if someone used the term "wetback?" I'm sure it would be racist then...

Well, the origins of the word and the current meaning are rather different these days. Generally, to avoid being a redneck you just need to keep an open mind :)

Kind-of supprisingly, when the new body style mustangs (99-04) came out I hated them, and I hated the 4.6L in them. So needless to say I bought a 1995 Mustang GT instead. Well now I love the new style ,(and have for a few years now) infact so much that I plan on getting one of the 04 Cobra's within the next couple of months!

You won't be disappointed by the 2004 SVT Cobra, I promise you that.

But personally, I love the foxbody styling the most, and the 5.0L engine was so cool and easy to mod. Even so, I plan on replacing the engine with a modern up-to-date 302cid V8, so the displacement is the same, but lighter/stronger material, overhead cams, more valves per cylinder, etc. etc.. That would be nice...
