so i have a 1997 neon and well...it doesnt have a tach, so i have no idea how fast i can go in each shift (it = manual). i was wondering if anyone knows what is about the approximate speeds that i can go instead of having to purly rely on the sound of the engine.
like first gear = ?
second = ?
and so on...
thanks guys

I don't understand why a car wouldn't have a tach with a manual trans. unless the transmision was switched from a auto to the trans you have now. But any who, just go buy a tach. Have a professional install it. It may cost a pretty penny, but you'll get two things in one. Style-it'll add style to your interior and you'll know excatly when to shift.

my mopar book only gives the 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd speeds

SOHC:
1st to 2nd shift = 36mph
2nd to 3rd shift = 61mph

DOHC:
1st to 2nd shift = 35mph
2nd to 3rd shift = 58mph

i might just have to do that cause my neon is like the only manual without a rpm gauge...and i didnt put it in when i got it, because i got it as a graduation present...and then it got stolen on my graduation day...best...day....ever (by best i mean worst)

but then i later found my baby =D, had to replace my steering column though =(
