Legacy OEM Stereolegacy1995 04-02-2004, 07:18 PM I have a 1995 Legacy AWD L Wagon. It has the OEM am/fm cassette, with a cubby hole under it. I was wondering if the OEM am/fm cassette/indash cd players from Legacys that are 1996-1999 will fit my dash if I remove the am/fm cassette player/cubby hole. This would be a slick upgrade if they fit. Anyone try this or know any details, about possible necessary brackets, or?????? Thanks in advance for any responses, John ineedaskyline 04-04-2004, 06:43 PM I'd just do it anyways all too easy to put it back as it was if it doens't fit, but i'm sure they have to follow some standard, every car i've owned i have removed the OEM stereo and installed a aftermarket one. You could always just build a new cradle. Cheers sha_zapple 04-10-2004, 02:16 PM Im pretty sure they will fit. An aftermarket stereo fit in my 98... 96legwag 05-10-2004, 10:39 PM Yes, definately, the cubby hole will come out with the stereo if you like - use a double din replacement if you dont need the cubby hole. There is a nice replacement option typically available on ebay - in-dash 6cd /am/fm Subaru factory replacement beleive it or not for $169 USD. I have one with the subaru 120watt factory sub from a wrx - everything wires in with factory harnesses (very clean), and flat ROCKS my 96 wagon, grab the factory tweeters also if u are on ebay - 15 minute installation, all legs are prewired to accept them. You cant go wrong with these components mtkoren 06-23-2004, 10:31 PM While doing your stereo - the factory is closing out tweeters that replace the flat panel behind each side mirror for $15 for the entire kit. And they wire right into the harness that is wire-tied up behind the door panel. 96legwag 06-24-2004, 10:58 PM Yes, and if you buy them, you can (carefully) remove the tweeter from the housing and replace them with a higher powered (~200w) 3/4 inch tweeter for a very nice installation - I did it with mine and the difference is amazing. mtkoren 06-24-2004, 11:44 PM 96legwag Are you saying that that perception of mine that the factory tweeter may distort just a little - like it isn't real clean - is not just my own illusion - that it needs something a lot better? mgswed 06-28-2005, 02:32 PM New to the forum, How do i remove the factory stereo in a 95 legacy ls. Thanks for any help. 96legwag 06-28-2005, 11:10 PM New to the forum, How do i remove the factory stereo in a 95 legacy ls. Thanks for any help. Pop out the ash tray, there are two screws just inside the opening on the top - remove them. Open the cupholder and remove the two screws that hold it in, then remove the trim pieces (were held in place by the screws). The lighter can be a real pain to get out of its opening - I usually round it out slightly before reassembling - be careful when you pull out this trim piece. There are four screws that hold the radio (or radio/coin tray depending on your car), remove them and pop out the radio. Reassemble the reverse. It is a quick job usually. mgswed 06-29-2005, 08:21 AM Thank you very much vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
