Whistling sound

Whenever i take my foot off the brake pedal i hear a whistling sound from one (both?) of the rear wheels. This only happens when the e-brake isnt on. When it's on, there's no sound if i come off the brake pedal. Anyway, this has been the case for a while now and as you can imagine is pretty irritating. If anyone has a clue what it is i would be very grateful. I took it to a garage but they were completely useless about it, so im relying on AF's tech wizards! :D

My rear brakes are drum brakes, if that helps :dunno:

Do you have brakes in the rear wheels (Rotors, Brake Pads, Calipers) ? If you dont I would assume that something in the wheels needs oil to stop the noise or something. I would also suggest to check your Brake Line and have a brake specialist take a look at your Emergency Brake.

Otherwise if you have a brake system in the rears then it may be that they are worn out and need replacing.

Also have you tried changing to a really good brake fluid?

i think you just need to greese the nipples on the backing plate. that is the part that the shoes contact the backing plate and it'll make noise if the greese is gone. hope this help.
