Posting for a family member doing a head replacement on a 300 (1984 model truck).

What is the accepted - recommended method of installing rocker arms? Do we use a torque value or a specific number of turns?

Engine was last running less than a week ago, so the lifters should not be dry.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Well, here is the way i did it on my 78 300 I6. Get a second nut for each rocker arm, so you can make them adjustable. Buy a feeler gauge and adjust the valve to have .010 of clearance, then put the second nut on there and it will hold it in place.

Just torque them down. I *think* the spec is like 25 ft-lbs. Slowly is best so the oil can bleed out.
