Initial Dred_spyder 03-27-2004, 04:09 PM At first the thought of it didn't appeal to me, but my friend started telling me about it and I got kind of interested. I'm too cheap/poor to go out and buy the DVDs on my own (especially if it turns out that I don't like them), so I'm making him burn them for me. Anyone got any reviews or anything to say about Initial D? I'd like to know more about it before I start watching it. the 18th letter 04-03-2004, 11:45 PM Initial D is very good. The drifting CG is very nicely done, and every race there's a new song. Some race even have two songs. Definitely a good racing anime. ac427cpe 04-04-2004, 01:07 AM initial D owns us all. well, not those of us who can drive; we just enjoy watching it ;) friday86 04-24-2004, 12:39 AM How many episodes and dvds of initial D are there... really!? I only saw that there were only 5 dvds total, and 100 episodes! so I dont know... tomthebomb65 04-24-2004, 11:56 AM the 1st stage has 26 eps, 2nd has 13, and then theres the movie (3rd stage), special stage, battle stage, and now 4th stage is airing which is going to be 14 eps. Oh and by the way, this is my favorite anime by far and I recommend this to anyone who likes racing. Boss San 04-25-2004, 05:19 PM Any idea when the Stage 4 dvd's will be avalible? xviciousx 04-27-2004, 01:50 PM Initial D is more than just racing, it also has a decent story line... but the racing does kick ass! Zanark 05-03-2004, 06:03 PM have any of you noticed how crappy the american DVD's of initial D are compared to the actual Subtitled ones? NSX-R-SSJ20K 05-03-2004, 06:50 PM you mean american dub with tricked out visuals right? yea it is shit. Tokyo Pop was on crack when they decided to do that stupid shit. Thank fuck they put the original dub on with original video though it should've been that way in the first place. Don't get me started on the names either. tomthebomb65 05-04-2004, 06:13 AM even though they kept the jap. audio and eng. subs, stuff still got screwed up pretty bad. NSX-R-SSJ20K 05-04-2004, 10:24 AM stuff? tomthebomb65 05-04-2004, 03:04 PM like things being edited out, etc. I don't know a lot cause I'm lucky enough not to see the tokyopop version. tonioseven 05-04-2004, 03:09 PM It's a lot different from the Manga; I'm just glad we can even get it at all!! I go to the bookstore and read the Manga for free since it's untouched and original, then I watch the videoand compare the two. I'll eventually sell the whole DVD set once I watch them all and get a burner to make copies. <is OMGWTFLOL!'D! 05-05-2004, 12:40 AM <is downloading 4th Stage-02 at the moment> Seems like a damn good series. The manga deserves kudos as well. Zanark 05-06-2004, 12:19 PM lol NSX yeah, I just dont understand it the demographic for anime is really 17 and up why in the hell do they feel the need to "dumb" it down for americans? Like what Funimation did to dragonball-Z they litterally murderd that anime to the point they even changed the story line. I seriously cant stand all of these dubs. Lol and whos the people that actually makes these? Its like they feel since its animated its a cartoon, ah well I say Pokemon screwed alot of animes lol. If it wasnt for that damn yellow Rat some Dubd animes would actually be ok. Only ok dub Ive seen is Kenshin even though it still sorta sucks compared to the subd you gotta admit its not that horribly bad. Zanark 05-06-2004, 12:22 PM OH and the beauty about the orignal Initial D's is that they actually teach you things. Lol in the AMerican version they mess the dialog up so it comes out all Fast and the Furious like. So you dont learn a damn thing. Honestly I didnt love the story to Initial D I thought it was rather thin and the series wasnt long enough. But what they taught you through out the series is actually relevant lol but man the 2nd stage is the most bad ass yall need to Dl those from Kazaa lite or something. Especially that race with those two females in a S13 lol that was pimp. Honoturtle 05-11-2004, 04:31 AM I think Initial D just added to my obsession with the Toyota Corolla, if you will Trueno. I've seen subtitle version, but yet to see the American version, from your explanations I don't really see what could be so bad about it. I was able to watch the first two episodes of 4th stage, and didn't think it was that interesting so far. The idea of having someone tell Takumi what he should do instead of him ridding on mostly instinct takes away what we have learned about the character through first and second stage. I hope to some day collect the Japanese Manga set, which I hope my little Japanese skill can help me with. :) Tonio, seems like you got the ideal plan going. I guess you don't get in trouble reading instead of buying. :iceslolan jajimo 05-26-2004, 07:37 PM I just bought the first 5 volumes of the Tokyo pop DVDs. I'm assuming these are only part of one stage, correct (I'll have 6 and 7 within the month)? I wasn't into Initial D when I was in Japan last, so I have no clue. I'd like to get as much of it as possible, so if anyone knows any good websites where I can order them (Japanese w/subtitles only, no dubbing!), please let me know. jajimo 05-27-2004, 12:42 AM Arigato gozaimasu! I was actually looking to buy them since owning the DVD is always more fun in my opinion (+braggin rights) =) tomthebomb65 05-27-2004, 06:01 AM Oh yea, it is a lot better to own them (I do), but until you find them this is easier. Boss San 05-27-2004, 10:14 PM I really wish the Manga's would come out quicker. It's only at 11 or maybe number 12 is out now I haven't checked in a while. The anime kinda spoiled it a bit, but oh well. NSX-R-SSJ20K 05-28-2004, 05:35 AM its probably worth waiting till the release all the DVD's and buying the boxset - works out cheaper. I know the GTO boxsets are pretty good value. pizzaman 05-28-2004, 04:46 PM The US release is crap. Download the fansubs off the net, they are much better and free. Eps 3 and 4 of 4th stage come out this next month around the 19th. jajimo 05-31-2004, 05:43 PM anyone have a link to a place where I can get the mangas? jajimo 06-01-2004, 09:37 PM Auch, I told myself I'd never use mIRC again... but it's just too tempting. I already went out and bought volumes 9, 10, and 11 (read 7 and 8 in the store =P). Good stuff! jajimo 06-01-2004, 09:41 PM Oh, and what the hell is up with Mogi's sugar daddy? Anyone? Boss San 06-02-2004, 04:23 PM That her pimp! Ha ha. Somehow her and the man she meets has a whole lot to do with the Takahashi bros. aparently. If you've already read book 9, 10, and 11 you find out more. jajimo 06-02-2004, 08:42 PM I don't recall hearing anything about them and the Takahashi bros =/ Then again, I read 7 and 8 pretty quickly while in the store =) Boss San 06-03-2004, 05:50 PM I can't remember which one it's in, but one of the issuses I remember there being a page of Ry's house and the mystery guy's Benz is in the driveway. I think, it might be a different persons car. tonioseven 06-03-2004, 06:49 PM I know that he was hittin' it!!:lol::lol: That much IS true!:sunglasse ST-001 06-14-2004, 10:26 AM its probably worth waiting till the release all the DVD's and buying the boxset - works out cheaper. Yeh i reckon coz seperately now its like being sold for $20 each !!! and onli volume 1 is out so far. Strider Negro 06-16-2004, 01:55 PM I have a question concerning Takahashi Ryosuke. In the movie he says that he has a little of a year left to play this "game" that he wants to play. Is he going to die or something?? No one says that they have a year left unless a. they were dying. b. they were leaving the country... someone please help me with this question... tomthebomb65 06-16-2004, 06:17 PM umm . . . I think he's working on becoming a doctor or something and he has a year till he graduates or something. Strider Negro 06-16-2004, 09:17 PM who else here thinks that the japanese soundtrack of initial D kicks major ass!!! i'm listening to "I need your love" right now...that's the song they play when shingo bumps into takumi's 86 and sends him into a 360 which he recovers from and he gets freaking pissed!!!! " move your body, I go crazy thinking about you, I need your love cuz i'm on fire!!!!" pizzaman 06-16-2004, 10:37 PM He might meant he had a year left to find the drivers for his team and train them before making them into a professional race team. tomthebomb65 06-17-2004, 12:37 PM I have all the cd's from the jap version, and it's just about all I listen to these days joebowlr21 06-21-2004, 05:11 AM just curious, but if you guys go visit the Initial D forum, i have posted links for the new episodes just released on the 19th of June in Japan. FRIED TOFU 04-25-2005, 08:32 PM can anyone of u help me in initial d..i drive a EVO 3 and i suck with it some tips from good players would be helpful....courses such as akagi(major) iro iVteC_PoWeR 04-25-2005, 09:25 PM can anyone of u help me in initial d..i drive a EVO 3 and i suck with it some tips from good players would be helpful....courses such as akagi(major) iro first of all have you looked at the date of the last post? 2004!!! But anyways yea i play initial d too although im not all that good i have played Akagi and Irohazaka. If you are going through a hairpin curve(or any tight corners) you HAVE TO use the brakes. Knowing when to use the brakes and to just let off the gas is VERY crucial. That will make a big difference but if you dont brake in the corners that you should you will go straight into the wall. I drive a Nissan Silvia S15 Spec-R. Im not too familiar with driving 4WD cars in that game but i have before. And also using the jump on Irohazaka will cut your times too. Layla's Keeper 04-26-2005, 04:42 AM We have an Initial D forum. It's in the racing section. Go there. Old thread, locked. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
