94 Jeep GC L6 cranks but won't turnovercalsocal 03-20-2004, 09:06 PM Please Help- Hi, I am a new user, I hope someone here can help. I have a 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo, automatic, inline 6, AWD. I haven't had any problems lately at all and then all of a sudden my jeep wouldn't start. It is able to crank, but the engine won't turnover. The starter and ignition seem to work fine, however I suspect the gas just isn't getting to the engine. Is there anything I can check to see if this is a fuel pump or filter problem. Is this common? My jeep is immobile right now, is there any cheap way to fix this, and quickly? Thanks a lot. -Calvin tdenkler 03-20-2004, 09:32 PM Crankshaft sensor or ignition coil. Is it getting fire? take any plug off, stick metal(small screw driver will do) in end, lay against engine(sny metal), and have someone crank. Should see spark. If not, I'd try coil first. Replaced twice on my 93 calsocal 03-21-2004, 02:18 PM Thanks a lot, I'll try that and let you know how it works. Are you saying I should check each individual spark plug? Which wire are you talking about? Thanks for your help, let me know what exactly I should do and I'll try it, have a great day. -Calvin Dale Aeppli 03-22-2004, 10:27 PM Hi Dale, sorry I didn't quite understand what you meant in your message. IF YOU GET NO SPARK THERE PULL THE COIL WIRE FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP HOLD THE WIRE WITH A PAIR OF PLIERS WITH INSULATED HANDLES CLOSE TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. IF YOU GET SPARK HERE & NO SPARK AT THE WIRE THAT YOU PUT THE PLUG IN & GROUNDED AT THE BLOCK THEN YOU HAVE TROUBLE IN THE DISTRIBUTOR THE CAP ,ROTOR OR CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IN THE DISTRIBUTOR IF YOU HAVE NO SPARK ANYWHERE THEN IT COULD BE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR ON THE BELLHOUSING. Brushed up the posts and clamps 'til they shined, put back together and haven't had a problem since. It's always worth it to try the easy stuff first.
