Hey everyone i was looking in my papers want ads and spotted a 91 prelude, with 117000k miles on it. it is a second owner vechile and has some dings and dents on the car including a windshield that needs replacing. They are asking $2000 for. Does anyone think this is a good or bad buy, are they asking too much. Any input would be great

It depends on what kind of cond. the motor is in. And what features come with the car.

I have a 88 Prelude SI, not what it is, if its an SI its golden, that means that it has 4 wheel steering, seriously you won't ever have to back your car to get into a space. The little 2.0s preform very well thanks to the shortest gearing ever. Seriously I push almost 4,000 RPMs going 80mph. So don't believe that it can go 140mph like the speedo says.

It is kind of reliable we have 150,000 miles on ours but it does break a lot. I don't know that I would recomend it.

does the car itself look good? $2000 i think thats too much, maybe like 1800 or less, but my friend has a 88 and they aren't much different, theres a idle problem, the rpms keep goin up n down, but other than that its a pretty nice car, i think it has a b20a in there, no vtec but it makes like 160hp so its pretty dang fast for a small car like that

I'd say yes. Honda's have the reputation of lasting forever. I have a 90 Accord with over 150k and the motor still runs fine. I havn't had any expensive repairs as far as I remember, at least any due to normal driving/wear and tear. Hondas are generally cheap to own and cheap to repair and last forever, so I would say go for it. That engine will probably last to 200k at least. Get it checked out by a mechanic and run carfax to make sure.
