McLarens at historic racesbjaffee 03-19-2004, 02:58 PM Do you think we are nearing the point where we might see GTR's at historic races? Whenever SPEED shows something like the Monterey Historics, I'm hopefully I'll see a GTR out there, but so far, no luck. Is it just that the McLarens are still too new, or that the owners might be (understandably) nervous about racing these cars again? You gotta admit, seeing cars like the F1 and Ferrari F40 racing at Laguna Seca would be pretty cool! mini magic 03-19-2004, 03:39 PM don't they have to be a certain age to compete in historic races? drewwtms 03-19-2004, 04:07 PM I think it's 25 years. BUT there are historic series for Group C cars (http://www.groupc-gtpracing.com/). I know the F1 did not compete in there but don't lose out hope. Maybe someday there will be a series for ex-BPR cars or FIA GT cars. Some of those cars are so valuable though that I don't see them being a full series - maybe a support race for Le Mans. They weren't like Group C/GTP in that there are hundreds of cars out there gathering dust. The FIA GT cars in particular are still more of a collector's item, I think.
