Heard that we have a Chevy engine...is that true?mitch311 03-18-2004, 03:03 PM Hi, I bumped into someone at my work and they said that we have Chevy engine in our car. I forgot what kind he said it was, but I did remember he said Chevy. Is that true? I did notice that the bolts for the rear diffy cover was a standand bolt, not metric like all japanese vehicles. amigo-2k 03-18-2004, 04:00 PM nope it is Isuzu. the rear axle is a Dana 44 and the front is (I think) an isuzu corp 10. rodeo02 03-18-2004, 04:04 PM Mitch- Pre 1992 rodeos had the old pushrod GM 3.1L V6's in them. 1992-on rodeos & passports have the 100% isuzu 3.2L. The 2.2L 4cyl base engine in 1998-2003 rodeos is a GM design, used only by isuzu, daewoo and holden (GM really liked that motor eh? :evillol: ). G/luck Joel mitch311 03-18-2004, 04:57 PM Thanks guys, I feel better now. I was thinking, "if I would have known that it's an american made engine, I would of gotten an explorer or a trail blazer." Not that I don't like american made cars, I chose this japanese car because I wanted something that will last....hopefully I won't get flamed for this comment I've just made. One other question, how come they use champion spark plugs for the 98-99 models? Since it's a japanese engine, why didn't they use Denso or NGK to begin with? rodeo02 03-18-2004, 07:49 PM ..One other question, how come they use champion spark plugs for the 98-99 models? Since it's a japanese engine, why didn't they use Denso or NGK to begin with? That is a good question. Rodeos do have a ton of GM/delphi electronics on them due to isuzu's (previous) ties to GM :disappoin. Maybe AC delco's were not compatible at that time, so they used the next cheapest thing :banghead: . It's a good thing they switched to denso! G/luck Joel Cat Fuzz 03-18-2004, 08:04 PM I'll keep my comment to myself. :disappoin vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
