hey guys i just saw and test drove this car it has 167,000 miles and some body damage that has been fixed but still a little visible it has the v6 engine, dual exuast,t-tops,perfect leather interior, power everything.
the other thing that threw me off was that the front driver side wheel seemed to look slightly pushed back but it still turns and drives fine. How long can this engine last before i would have to swap. first time buyer and long time fan and i dont want my first experience with a camaro to be a bad one. how should i make sure everything is fine with this car.

OK, so I don't really know very much, but I hate to see 0 replies so this is my opinion.

-Body damage isn't really a big deal...BUT is it on the side with the questionable tire placement? Did you check the allignment when you test drove it? Does it pull to one side? It could just be seriously out of allignment or may have a bent tire rod. (about $250p+L)
-167,000 miles sounds like a lot to me, but I can't really answer about the motor
-The dual exst. would have been after mkt on a V-6, so check underneath and make sure it's in good shape.
-Run the car through a car wash to make sure the T-tops don't leak. This could ruin the pretty interior.
-I'm not sure what state you're in, but you can do a lemon check to see if it was wrecked, flooded...
-Looks at the seams and make sure everything lines up right.
-Look for big $$$ things like timing chain condition,AC work?,how does the clutch feel?( is it 5 spd?), hoses all dried up...and so on.
-You can always have a car-smart friend check it out or even take it to a mechanic if you have a little x-tra money & time with the car.
-Will you be buying from a dealership or a person?

I'm sure the people on here can give you more advice. Good Luck! Don't be impatient...it will be worth it when you find exactly what you're looking for.

yeah it seems like the side the damage was done was the same side that the tire seems moved back about 2in its an automatic and it was raining when i test drove it so i know the t-tops dont leak. im located in chicago so i wanted it for the summer but it sounds like it will be more trouble than fun.so i will keep searching for the perfect one thanks

maybe you can keep a look in www.ebaymotors.com unless you dont trust them...

Don't do the ebay thing unless the car is close enough to take a ride to go check out. I bid on a 95 Trans Am that was supposed to be in excellent shape and after the auction I left a 650.00 Deposit and bought a plane ticket to fly down to Florida to pick up and drive back and when I got there part of the car wasn't painted the Dash was in pieces and the check engine light was on and the door panel was in the trunk and it ran like sh*t and even though there where pictures of the car online the guy left out all the problems with the car and said if I didn't like the car that was my problem he was keeping my deposit but after a call to my credit card company I got my money for the deposit back but had to pay for ticket there and standby on the way back but I also found my current car on ebay but checked it out before bidding as it was close enough

yeah i would definitely wait, i dont know what know what your looking for with a car but you could save up a little more and go buy a Z28 somewhere thats prolly in better condition. if youre lookin for speed dont go lookin at the V6...

" i dont want my first experience with a camaro to be a bad one"- well yeah your right chevyracincamaro becauseif he doesnt want his first experience to be a bad one then go with the V8 Z28!

Theres less of a chance of the car being driven hard if it's a 3.8 over the 350's.. And the body kits on the RS's are so much nicer then the more plain Z28's.. (93-97 anyway) $2300 sounds cheap.. My girlfriend just bought a 97' rs v6 today (some of my influence must have rubbed off on her) and she paid $12,000 cdn which is a little over 9,000usd.. completly stock with cloth int. Which is about the going rate where I live..

just cause its a v6 doesnt mean it wasnt run hard, i know guys who have sixes and they run their cars harder. more than likely if the car seems to be in good shape it is, these cars dont hide problems well...
