rebuilt CT20B $950 shipped WARRANTYATSAaron 03-17-2004, 11:21 AM This is a fresh 0 mile rebuilt CT20B. It has new seals, bearings and has been balanced. Comes complete with a 6 month UNLIMITED mileage warranty. Note: warranty does not cover damage from improper installtion (ie using RTV instead of new gaskets) or contaminated/lack of oil. Available IMMEDIATELY. Turbo is in TEXAS, not JAPAN ;-) CT20B is the OEM turbo from the 94+ 3rd gen 3SGTE in Japan. They were originally rated at 245hp but are capable of supporting 300rwhp (with proper supporting mods) and bolt on easily in place of the original CT26. On a stock MR2 expect to gain 30-40 hp. $950 shipped Aaron ATSRacing.net JekylandHyde 03-17-2004, 11:45 AM Sponsorship: Amateur Motorsports (http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/sam.htm) <-- Get the book! - books are now available for shipment ac427cpe 03-20-2004, 12:45 PM just wondering, does the CT20B have the same bolt outlets as the CT26? i am looking for a turbo upgrade for the mk1.5, and i don't feel like making another downpipe. anyway, shooting for 300rwhp, would a ct20b require less modification than say, a t3/t4 or discopotato (something of the sort)? ATSAaron 03-20-2004, 02:53 PM The CT20B has all the same inlets and outlets as the CT-26. There is one extra stud on the exhaust side. No problem though, just pull it out and it all bolts up. The turbo hold bracket that is shaped like an L and bolts to the block and turbo will not fit. But we have found them to be pretty unnecessary anyway. So the short andwer is YES it will bolt up MUCH easier than any aftermarket turbo kit. Aaron kkil 04-03-2004, 03:23 PM Not trying to sharpshoot anyone, but: "If you are continuing to identify the turbo of a 3SGTE 3RD Generation as a Toyota CT20 or CT20B then you are referring to an imaginary, non-existent turbo. This turbo exists only in the Internet. There is NO Official Toyota reference to this turbo in any Toyota Manual, CD Rom, or sales literature- that we have seen, that uses this designation to identify the turbo as installed on the 3SGTE 3rd Generation engines. There is a REAL Toyota CT20 turbo used on the 3TGTE, 4TGTE, and 22RTE engines in the 80’s but this will not bolt on the 3SGTE manifolds. We have imported and sold many of ALL these engines types. We have ordered and sold many replacement turbos for the 3SGTE 3rd Generation. There is no casting designation identifying these turbos as CT20 or CT20 B. Many shops and individuals continue to sell and modify this turbo without knowing what they are handling. We have given this information to all inquiries for this particular turbo. There have been many 3SGTE Celica and MR2 owners who have been misled into buying the real CT20 turbo from the older turbo engines. The seller is 100% correct in selling them as such with the casting # to prove so. Shops and individuals who pass the CT20 as upgrade for the 3SGTE- do not know any better. The buyer must be made aware that if they want the real 3SGTE 3RD Generation Turbo- it is not the CT20 or 20B. NO, we have not sold any of the CT20 / 20B as upgrade or update for the 3SGTE engines, despite insistence from many to purchase a CT20 /20B based on misinformation from the internet. In some Toyota literature these 3SGTE 3rd Generation turbos are still referred to as the CT26. There are actually 2 different 3SGTE 3RD Generation Turbos- #1 as installed in the 1994 - up Celica ST205 and MR2 SW20 vehicles the flange is similar to the CT26 but with a Twin Entry casting and Ceramic impellers; #2 as installed in the Caldina ST215 (and other ST2XX models) including the newest 2004 model Caldina ST246- the turbo center section housing is cast in one piece with the exhaust manifold, also with Ceramic impellers. Again there is no identifying models on this turbo. Also- the racing “3SGTE” based Toyota racing engines are not 3SGTEs- they are known internally at Toyota as 503- as used in IMSA, Pikes Peak, HKS drag car, and Le Mans. No internal or external parts are interchangeable. To prevent another controversy and correct widespread misinformation- the Caldina ST 215 (and other ST2XX models) 3SGTE should not and cannot be referred to as 3SGTE 4th Generation . The 4th Generation head supports the VVTi valve set-up and has direct ignition. The block is identical to the 3rd Generation. There is a REAL 4th Generation 3SGE but they were not available with turbo. Hopefully this will clarify the Turbo identification and the engine designation problems of the 3rd Generation 3SGTE. Thank you for your attention Team Toysport March 4 2002" www.toysport.com Now I know that ATS isn't trying to rip anyone off. But (in reference to the quoted material) if you see it on the internet, it's got to be true. :) ATSAaron 04-03-2004, 08:03 PM Thanks Toysport. I understand your concerns. I am not sure where the CT20B name came from. I do suspect it has to do with the shaft diamteres of the turbos. The ONLY thing the CT20B has in common with a normal CT20 is the shaft diameter. What would you call the 3rd gen turbocharger? Its not a CT26 because it shares zero parts with the CT26. Aaron ATS Racing kkil 04-03-2004, 08:54 PM Aaron, I don't have any technical knowledge of the turbo - that's taken from the Toysport website (they're in CA and do a lot of Toyota work, apparently). Maybe they can respond to it if you email them directly through their website. I just posted that info because I had read it right before seeing your thread. I do sort of know you however... you had a black 91T for sale on autotrader about 2 years ago that I talked to you about buying. Someone else ended up buying it. Since then I've had a '92 NA, a '93 NA H/T, and now trying to get a '92 NA H/T for a V6 swap... or something! Like I said, I'm not trying to sharpshoot your sale, I know you have a great rep in the community. I just thought the info was informative / interesting. Thx. KP JekylandHyde 04-04-2004, 07:56 AM Toysport website, has been shown (from what I understand) to have a lot of false information on their site. Just because it is published on the Internet, doesn't mean it is true. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
