I am looking at buying a 944 turbo or MR2 turbo. I know they both run around the same 0-60s and 1/4 miles. I would assume the 944 handles better b/c it is FR instead of MR drivetrain. What about upgraded performance. The MR2 can get 250hp for under $1000. What about the 944? Any info would help

Thanks

Actually mid engined cars usually enjoy better handlign that front engined cars. However, the 944 is an exception, as the rear transmission makes for an ideal weight balance.

Both cars are great, with lots of aftermarket support. The MR2 would be cheaper to run, and about as fast.

For around $1000, you can get some good power out of a 944 Turbo, probably around 300hp or so. The 951 is capable of higher performance, but you'd better be prepared to pay for it ;)

Cbass summed it up very well.

Fact is, the 944 will cost more to modify, but the cost will justify what you get out of it. Not in resale value, but driving experience.

I would only ask one question, and this is not to sway your decision, but some food for thought. :evillol: When you step out your front door in the morning to go to work, would you rather get into a Porsche, or a Toyota? :eek7: :eek7:

Also, get a 944 with all maintenance records, or you may be in for some costly work, unless you are willing to do the work yourself.
