tranny flaremadi99 03-16-2004, 06:16 PM I have a 99 Rodeo with an automatic transmission and for about a month the transmission has been flaring when I'm slowing down from 2nd to 1st. It has 97000 miles on it, I had the fluid flushed and it stopped for about a week, but then started again. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks Mikeybat 03-16-2004, 09:35 PM Was the filter changed with the tranny flush? Also check the fluid level. Mikeybat amigo-2k 03-17-2004, 12:44 AM how old is the battery? ever changed the alt? madi99 03-17-2004, 12:50 PM The filter was not changed with the flush. I'm not sure about my battery and alternator I've only had the vehicle 2 months. Could that be the problem? rodeo02 03-17-2004, 06:58 PM What is tranny "flare" ???? :dunno: Joel madi99 03-18-2004, 12:04 PM I talked to someone at Isuzu and he said that the noise I hear when the vehicle downshifts from 2nd to 1st is called a tranny flare, so I really don't know what it is. I took the vehicle to my mechanic and he said it's normal and that is the way the computer is programed to shift, so I guess I'll just let it go. amigo-2k 03-18-2004, 02:54 PM Actually I think it is normal too. It is called grade logic: http://www.fourwheeler.com/roadtests/50258/ "The transmission, meanwhile, benefits from something called “grade logic,” which is designed to help it automatically select the right gear for climbing or descending grades." madi99 03-18-2004, 04:08 PM Does it matter that my Rodeo is 2wd? It normally does it when I'm slowing down at stoplight and I don't usually drive it really rough. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
