where did you get this done, how much was the cost and have you had to dyno it?

Double Z Automtive did the whole swap.

As for cost. It really all depends on how cheap you can get the parts needed for the swap...(engine, accessories (altinator, power steering pump, ICM and coils, TB, etc) tranny, harness, PCM, PCM reprogram, flywheel, clutch, throtle cable, shifter cables, shifter, steel tubing and steel flatbar, intake, plus the very numerious other small parts that are needed. You can also count on about 80 hours to do a good job.

What did you do about the front end? Doesn't it sit to low now, because of the added weight?

I have sprint lowering springs in the front (1.8" drop) The front end only dropped about 1/4 of an inch if that from the extra weight.

whats your car running? do u have any mods like a smaller pulley or anything? My guess is that with the lighter body you should be in the mid 14's completely stock... looks nice though... how come you didn't just get the GM blower and install that?

Mid 14's? I would say mid to low 13's for sure. I ran 13.8 and was only putting down 200hp with a stock clutch with my old engine. I have a 3.4" pulley (stock is 3.8") custom tuned PCM, custom headers, full exhaust, CAI, 5-speed tranny, 9.5lbs aluminum flywheel, Bully stage 4 clutch, MSD DIS-4, MSD wires, 160 degree thermostat, N.O.S. wet nitrous system (using 150hp jets). I am hopeing to get this car into the 11's with slicks.

There is no way you could even run high 14s with a bone stock 3.8. Its just not going to happen. Maybe High 15s

What makes you say you cant run 13's with a stock 3800 S/C in a CAVI?

bigdaveangell

depends on how much boost.

LMAO...Are you serious? I ran 15.1 with my 2.4L putting out a huge 136hp :grinno: . On nitrous my car was putting out 199hp and I ran a 13.8 on a stock clutch. A stock 3800 puts down around 195whp through an automatic transmittion. I have a 5-speed with a very light aluminum flywheel and a stage 4 clutch. Now tell me how I would run slower with more power? lol The guy who did this swap in Quebec with a straight up swap and automatic ran 14.0 stock with slips to prove it. The fiero guys run anywhere from 12.8-13.3 with a stock 3800. Now I am a little bit heavier than them so I should be a little bit slower. But I also am not stock. My engine should be making close to 450hp at the crank.

Stock supercharged GTP's/Regals with the L67 engine run in the high 14's.
They weigh a good deal more than a Cavalier, have a 4 speed auto, versus the Cav's 5sp manual, and crank out about 250-255 engine hp with just a CAI, and exhaust. That's pre 2004 models. The new ones are 260 hp stock.

The Cav should pull 13's with relative ease, as long as you get the power to the ground.
We've an Impala SS in the indy grand prix club just dipping into the 12's. Slightly modded, but not an awful lot.

Classic hot rod technique. Biggest possible/affordable engine in the smallest car..awesome..nice work.

well i can tell you that this kid i know has a GTP with the smaller pulley.. i think the 3.4.. and he runs 14.6 at the track.. stock they run 15.2.. Tonight i raced the GTP guy with my Cobra and i creamed him easy.

The car looks hot. I'm thinking of doing the swap myself and was wondering how much hood clearance do u have? Would it be possible to put a intercooler below the blower?
