power loss?

I've noticed the past few weeks that my car feels like it has lost some power. I never feel the vtec kick anymore like I used to and it seems like the car is doggin it.

Anyway I was wondering if the engine light being on could cause the computer to maybe do something to cause this? My light is on cuz my speedo is disconnected. Anyway I've heard that in some cars the computer senses when something triggers the light and then the car runs weaker?

I've tuned her up and everything and it still seems less powerful, its really getting frustrating.

Well, you're in luck because even though I am drunk, I have an answer for you.
Vtec is controlled ny a few things and they are as follows...

1) Enigne speed: You must be above 4800 rpms
2) Vehicle speed: you must be going forward at over 13 MPH
3) Engine coolant temp: You temp must be above 140 degrees F (60 C) (don't know where the damn degree symbols is)
4) Engine load this is judged my intake manifold negative pressure.

So looking at this least of vtec requirements, it is safe to say that because your speedo is neither receiving or sending a signal, your vtec isn't going to work.
