i'm looking for info on adjusting the bands in a 95 neon trans. my manual doesn't mention anything about it. i know the need for adjustments in newer cars isn't as common as it is for older ones. is it needed for neons?

Adjustment of the ATX bands is actually recommended every 30,000 along with a fluid/filter change. There is a How-To on how to change the atx fluid/filter HERE (http://www.neonspeed.com/howto/howto_1stgen_atxfluid.htm) and a Haynes Manual has a pretty good write up about how to adjust the ATX bands.

Basically, the ATX Neon has two adjustment bands. One is one top of the trans. case, you will have to remove your battery, battery tray and stock air intake tubing (if your air intake is still stock) to get at it. The second band is INSIDE the atx tranny pan, just above the parking rod. When you do your fluid/filter change, simply do this band adjustment as well since you will already have the trans pan open. You will NEED to have a torque wrench that reads in IN-LBS. from 40-72 in-lbs specifically. If you dont have one, you will need to get one.

Lemme know if I can be of any further help there... L8R,
