Question about auto-headlights/R&D light controller

Ok, I've got a question. Let me know if I'm right, or if I'm waaaay out of line here.

I've been reading about these kits from R&D automotive that you can buy to override the factory auto-headlights on a 99. As far as I can tell, there is no other way to do this, but I CANNOT find one of these controllers anywhere!! I've looked on e-bay, in other forums, even tried the company's website, but still didn't work.

Now, after reading some other posts in this forum, and seeing how one of these modules was installed, I came to a question. Since you have to splice into 2 wires onthe BCM with the R&D controller, couldn't you just install a normal toggle switch on those 2 wires and have the same effect?

I might be way wrong here, and probably am, but I was just curious. I'm to the point now, I don't really care if the auto-light feature works at all. I'm sick of it. If that will not work, does anyone know any other ways to disable them? I've read on www.lightsout.org (http://www.lightsout.org) some ways to disable them, but I wanted to know all of the options. If not, does anyone know where I can get one of the R&D controllers?

Sorry for such an lenghty post, I just wanted to be clear.
