Looking to transplant a "M" engine into my 84 318i...The car is lightweight and in great condition...got potential for killer power to weight ratio. Classic BMW look with current M power capabilities. Anyone know any places to get the engines? Comments or other transplant stories welcome

That's a 2002. 2002's weigh about one ton. Your 318i weighs about 2400 pounds or so. Putting an S14 (pictured) motor into your 318i and doing all the necissary upgrades; brakes, suspension, etc. would end up costing more than an E30 M3. Just save a little money, sell the 318i and buy a '90 M3. I know a guy who got one for $6k and it was really nice.
