Ok, i have a 99 honda civic hx and every once in a while when i turn the key to start the car is will crank for a longer than usual time before actually starting. anyone have any idea what this might be so i can get it fixed before my 1 yr warranty from the dealership is up?

thanks!

With every fuel-injected civic i've EVER had (90si, 94cx, 00dx) it takes longer to crank when it is below half a tank of gas. I just assumed it was "normal" for them since it never gave me any problems, and it was just around 2 more cranks.

Try checking battery. Because my uncle had a car (not a Honda) and took so long to crank. He had the battery checked and needed replacement. after the replacement, it worked fine after. There are a lot of places that have the battery checked for free.

I had that same problem. Whenever I start my car I turn the key twice before it actually starts and you will hear the hum of the fuel pump. Wait for about 10 seconds while it fills up. Then it should start fine.

but this doesnt happen every time, just every once in a while, could that still be the battery?

could be alt too. Take it to your local Pep Boys, or Autozone and have them check your alt and battery, they'll do it for free.
