Quaife diff questionettinnov03 03-08-2004, 05:28 PM I jus backed out of buying a nismo 2 way limited slip for my car, because the way it would act doesnt go with what i plan to do with my car.I plan to make the car handle and i hear that the quaife diff is the way to go. Is there anywhere i can get my hands on one for under a grand? Is there anything similer that i can try? Maybe a 1/ 1.5 way diff? Also will it fit into my cuurent housing even though i dont have a VLSD factory installed? Thanks for you help 1viadrft 03-08-2004, 06:26 PM KAAZ.... CUSCO... etc, etc... all around a grand! Don't expect much for under a grand! There is no in-between for LSD's... The factory LSD on the 240sx SE can be found at some junk-yards if you are lucky enough to find one and preform quite well! I had a rebuilt LSD in my ol' 93 and it worked just fine... mrflip69 03-08-2004, 07:43 PM What's wrong with the NISMO LSD? nissanfanatic 03-08-2004, 11:17 PM Isnt the quaife diff hella-expensive? I know their transmissions are like super expensive. Chuki_breath 03-09-2004, 02:56 AM What's wrong with the NISMO LSD? good question. i mean dont they all do the same thing but just different brands. ettinnov03 03-09-2004, 05:29 PM Would I have to get another driveshaft if I swapped in a factory LSD? mrflip69 03-09-2004, 05:36 PM http://www.zilvia.net/installs/lsd/lsdswap.asp Why did you back out of the NISMO LSD? I'm planning on getting that or the KAAZ unit, but what's wrong with the NISMO LSD for handling? ettinnov03 03-09-2004, 06:09 PM I was reading that the clutch type diffs can cause understeer because they wont allow both wheels to turn at different speeds at all. Therefor making the inside wheel try to spin as fast as the outside wheel. There was something about the quaife diff, because of the way its designed, would give better handling. They also said that you may still do a peg leg when trying to do a burn out with the quaife. Please read the article before you make up your mind. If I'm wrong or someone can explain what i'm tryin to say a lil better please do. Heres the article I read: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/0309scc_projslivia/ mrflip69 03-09-2004, 07:49 PM Ah thanks. Good article! vsiev 03-10-2004, 02:57 AM ettinnov03 03-13-2004, 08:39 AM That article makes a good point as well but I think I'll just find a Viscous LSD and run with that until i can save for a quaife. I dont plan to be into the 500 hp range more like 300-400, so I shouldn't run into problems with the quaife. I just have a feeling that a clutch diff will be loud and get annoying after a while. The guy i was gonna buy the Nismo 2-way from said that was really loud once the cluth packs engaged but in normal driving you wouldnt even notice. Thanks for the help. SR20DETpower 03-13-2004, 09:40 AM the MAIN difference besides how they work is the Quaife can take a beating and Vlsds and CLutch diffs wear out. Plus the Quaife is guranteed for life no questions asked under any circumstances(racing included) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
