Hey all. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee, and every once in a while (@ 1x per month), there is no response at all when I turn the key, instead all the gauges start to flicker, then all the gauges go from the lowest/off position to the highest position ie. speedometer goes from 0-120ish, then all the gauges return to the off position. Once this happens the vehicle starts right up. there are 60,000 miles on the truck.
thanks in advance.

Joemamma007HI CHECK THE GROUND CABLE ON YOUR BATTERY. SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE LOSEING THE GROUND FOR YOUR ENGINE. JEEPS HAVE BEEN KNOWN FOR FAULTY GROUNDS. DISCONNECT THE GROUND CABLE & CLEAN IT & THE SPOT WHERE IT IS CONNECTED TO. HOPE THIS HELPS DALE jeepman600@aol.com

i also have a 2000 gc and every once in a while it happens to me. when i looked at it, it seemed that one of the wires was loose on the battery and im pretty sure it was the ground. well anyway i cleaned all the cables and attached them firmly and it nevar happened again. If the prob persists i dunno wut to tell ya. (lol)

Any loose battery wire wire cause it, positive or negitive on the block or at the positive terminal, the gauge swing is the computer resetting after being reconnected to the 12v source.

Follow what Dale and Leowolf have said, I had the same problem with my 99 GC and it was caused by a poor ground connection. Mine had a lot of corrosion on the gound cable at the battery. Clean with baking soda and water (and a metal brush), after apply some type of anti-corrosive pad or liquid. I used a marine grade anti coorsion goop that you brush on. Hope this helps and Good Luck!!
