At 30K miles my 2001 330cic clutch feels like its offering slight resistance about 2/3 of the way to the floor... a slight catch or bump. Only going into 1st and even then only about half the time. Dealer wants 400-500 to diagnose if it turns out to be a wear/abuse prob. I don't ride it and have never replaced/repaired clutches of other cars in several 100K of driving. Problem doesn't really affect car performance, but bothers me. Sound familiar, anyone?

I had the same problem on my 99 323i. It was periodic and didn't affect the performance but it was really annoying. I took it in and they just 'relubbed' it for free. Your dealer shouldn't be charging for that!! Actually, I took it in twice and no charge for both cases. It's been fine for about 6 months now.

If you go to www.alldata.com you may find a service bulletin for your year. For my '99, the following service bulletin seemed applicable:

210101 FEB 02 M/T - Popping/Clicking From Clutch Pedal

good luck
