I bought a used Jeep GC today. I bought it full knowing that there are a few repairs, so I also purchased a 30,000/ 2 year extended Mechanical Breakdown warranty through my credit union. The plan activates after I drive the vehicle 1,000 miles and I must own the vehicle for 1 full month. I was wondering if there is anybody who has ever had an intake manifold gasket problem which affected the idle and whether stretching it out 1,000 miles is a hazard to the engine. There is no check engine lights on yet, but I suspect that there will be. Is it advisable to wait? Don't be afraid to voice your opinions. I take full responsibility for my final desicion.

If the idle isn't too bad, you should be ok for a short time. It will throw the mixtuure off a bit. I just fixed my leaking manifold gasket and the engine is smoooooth now at idle. My last GC had a manifold leak for about three years and aside from a rough idle, it ran great and got fantastic mileage.

Dales right but make sure you get the correct torque spec. and use a torque wrench. A broken intake manifold will most deffinetly compound your problem. can anyone offer the torque spec. from a manual on hand?
