Speaker SizeR_WALDO_86 03-03-2004, 12:15 AM does anyone know what the stock speaker size is in a 1996 JGC, in the dash. I have a Laredo w/ out the infinity package, but the hookups and wires are preran. I bought a pair of 4 in rounds to put in the dash, but they were too big, so i'm thinking 3 1/2in. ????? I have a VERY strong component/subwoofer system, just looking for a little filler from straight ahead.......... i live in a box 03-03-2004, 01:52 AM This might not be too usefull, but I agree with you that it seems logical that they would be 3.5" instead of 4"... unless the speaker opening is oval in shape. In that case it's likely that you need a . I would call crutchfield: 1-888-955-6000 or go to their live chat. They are famous for their installation support. Or you could always call your local Jeep dealer, but that might turn into a touch-tone-phone athon. I'll do some looking around. Let us know what you find, because I may follow suit if I upgrade my system. Thanks. Inv3ctiv3 03-03-2004, 01:59 PM Yea I need to know the speaker size of the right rear door in my '95 JGC ltd with the infinity package ! Thanks - Jim R_WALDO_86 03-04-2004, 12:27 AM ok well i took back the 4in kenwood's and bought a pair of 3 1/2in infinitys (they have just two mounting brackets to the kenwood's four) thinking that they would fit, and they were still way too big... i'm wondering if the mountings aren't simply for small dome tweeters, but it wouldn't make sense for sound quality reasons, to pull the tweeter away from the woofer that far.... i'm once again confused and bewildered...... oh and Inv I believe what you are looking for is one of two speakers, you can probably fit a 6 3/4 or a 6 1/2... the problem is that you'll need to drill because the stock speakers have only three mounting brackets in a triangle formation, whereas most aftermarket speakers have four... not a real big project though.... R_WALDO_86 03-04-2004, 12:28 AM oh yea and BTW, one of the guys that i work with has a `96 limited, and we may just pop off his cowling and see what's truly under there vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
