hey:

hows everyone? i have a question. i am building a 68 chevy truck and i am putting a 94 S-10 frame under it, so i can put the air ride kit on so it will ride on the ground. BUT i want to know if the original rearend will be able to handle a 355 ci bowtie motor. about 375 hp. and what might be a good gear to run( a good mix of highway and tire smokin gears)?

thanks for all the help:

hell no! can you say grenade? Go for a 12-bolt or ford 9-inch.

It may gernade, but not as likely as the tranny. If it is the S-10 rear end you plan on using, I would agree with danny, get a 12-bolt and slip a spool in it ;) Just buy cheap tires for the rear. And if it has the original S-10 transmission, think about getting a M21, you won't have to worry if you accidently grid the gears.
About gears, 4:11 is a classic ratio but can be hard on gas. If your looking for lowend and gas mileage look into 3:73 gears for a happy medium.
