1999 Rack & Pinion removal?tato-head 03-01-2004, 06:15 PM Howdy, I'm having difficulty getting the steering out of my 99 Grand Caravan. The Chilton's manual says "remove the intermediate shaft from the intermediate coupler". ???? Does anyone who has done this shed some light on this statement, and also provide insight into removing the roll pin? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! Anaudiophile 03-02-2004, 09:36 AM Disconnect the intermediate shaft at the bottom of the steering column. Should be a small cotterpin style clip and a 13mm thru bolt down there. And then at the other end of the intermediate shaft is the roll pin that holds it to the steering rack. Just turn the wheels until the roll pin is accessible with a pin punch and just hit it thru!! Doesn't need to be hit all the way thru. The last 1/8" or so the intermediate shaft can still come off of the rack!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
