Boost Problem

I have an HKS EVC EZ boost controller in my GT-R. For some odd reason, I can no longer hold at a certain level of boost. It will always creep up slowly higher and higher. Does anybody have any idea's on what might be the problem?

Don't know....I prefer the Trust/Greddy VBC....never had any problems with it. What computer are you running?

I have a stock ECU, with the speed limiter taken out, nothing special. Maybe my boost controller is going bad. It sucks because I just bought it a couple of months ago. Maybe it is still under warranty.

I don't use the HKS boost controller. But if I could hazard a guess, that sounds like the boost controller isn't properly set up or working. It could also be that your actuator is not working properly so that it failed to let off the unwanted gas from the turbo inlet when the required boost is achieved - that causes the boost to go up and up! I think one way to know is to switch of the boost controller and see whether the boost keep on climbing beyond stock boost, if it did than it's not the controller's fault. If it only happen when the controller is switched on, it could then be the controller's fault.
That's as far as I know! Good luck. And don't you go selling the GTR!:D

I already tried switching the boost controller to stock boost and it still goes up and up. So is it the actuator? Does that mean my actuator is bad and I need to replace it? If so, are they expensive? Thank you very much for your info.

From my limited knowledge, I think it's the actuator failing to let off the unwanted gas. The actuator has a spring to open or close it. The spring may have been damaged or hardened for some reason or other. Do ask the mechanic to check first before buying a new actuator though as I am not a professional.:D Before my current upgrade I used the stock actuator in the stock turbo. Good enough to run at 1.02 bar of boost. Now I am using the HKS actuator which is good for around 1.5 bar.

Did you buy it new?

Have you setup it up correctly for creep?, it has a setting you can change if it does this.
