Anyone know a source for these or have a used set? I'm putting some time and money into the wife's Rodeo, and with it all cleaned up and pretty, the center caps with their damaged finish stand out like a sore thumb. Or is there any way to restore them, paint maybe? I'm assuming their plastic but I haven't taken them off yet.
These are the rims

Our center caps are all corroded and tarnished, found plenty of wheels, just no caps.

When I bought my truck new in 2000, after about it's frist 4 months in the salt of WI, the caps started to loose their finish. I took it in and they replaced it under warrenty. I asked them if you could bring it in every year until the 3yr/50K warrenty was up. And they said you sure can. But the new caps (which are about 3yrs old), still look like brand new!

Okay, so your out of warrenty so what to do now?

new OEM ones cost like 80 bucks per cap.

You could pull unbolt them, , degrease them, mask off the center and then paint them out (gray, black sliver . . ), cost maybe 5 bucks.

Or Comb ebay, I know I saw a couple of them listed in the last few weeks.

Or, check out www.car-parts.com, find a dealer in your area with rims and see if you can work out a deal with them for the caps only.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the links Amigo, I hunted around for 30 minutes on Google with no luck. I believe I'll go with the paint option, $120 for 4 caps is a bit more than I want to spend. By the way, you said unbolt them, how exactly do they come off? I thought they were just press on.

You will need to remove the rim. and then on the back of the rim there is like 4 bolts

4 bolts to hold on a center cap? They didn't want that thing falling off did they?
By the way, wanted to thank you for maintaing that FAQ, great source of info.

Dave- keep in mind that any stock rodeo center cap from 1998-2001 will work fine for your 2000. 2002-2004's are different. On my 2002 4x4, the center caps fall right off once the lug nuts are removed (stock steel wheels). I guess it's all attributed to the GM/Dodge/Jeep style front hubs that the 2002-2004 4x4's have :uhoh: . I've seen rodeo center caps quite often on eBay. Like Ryan says, that will be your best bet!

Glad I saw this, I was very frustrated with mine. I got the 6 year 100000 mile bumper to bumper and I am taking this in tomorrow to get it fixed. Did they give you any problems when you took it in?
