97 Grand Am - Won't Start

Hi again, I posted a problem about heads being reversed a few weeks ago. Idid some checking on my own and eventually called GM dealer. Mixing up the Heads was OK - they are the same part #. he went on to say, as long as the externals bolted on fine I will be OK.

The bad news is that the engine will not start, It is a 3.l L engine, It is getting spark when I Crank it. Can anyone tell me about the CPS, Crankshaft Position Sensor? If it is not working can there still be spark? Where exactly is it located on this Engine.

The engine seems to be getting fuel, I do hear the hum of the fuel pump when I turn the key and the Spark plugs are damp after attempting to start. I checked the fuses and they all seem good.

Many Thanks,
MurrayN

it's sparking the crank sensor should be good. what exactly did you do to this motor?? if it's getting spark and fuel it should run. take a fuel sample is there water in it??? try giving it a little shot of starter fluid in the throttle body.
