I've got a 99G20 with the stock Bose [I guess]. I was wondering if anyone knew where the stock Bose Amplifier was located? Thanks.

The stock amp is in the trunk. On the underside of where the speakers are mounted.

Thanks...does that mean each speaker has its own amp?

no all the speakers are connected to that one amp. I unplugged the amp and my speakers didn't work after that, so I had to plug it back in and it worked again.

Yep. The radio is connected to the amp which is connected to the speakers. Disconnecting the amp wouldnt help you get sound to the speakers now would it? ;)

Just so you guys know...

I "replaced" the BOSE amp with my Kenwood PS-500F amp...it sounds pretty dam good too. The bose speakers are 2 ohms which makes it extremely loud with the gain only at 1/4 of the way on my amp...good stuff when you're limited on funds.

I think each one of those bose speakers is being powered by its own kind of "amp" located right on the speaker. That might be another reason it is loud. No worries though, sounds great, right?!

nope that's the only amp. It's because the BOSE speakers are two ohms. The only reason why I don't want to replace them...but I'll wind up getting new ones eventually.

I know alot about the Bose system because I went through a lot of hell trying to get it working with a new head unit and amp.
In the end, I just ended up swapping out the whole system!
Also, about the amp on every speaker (maybe its diff. on a 2000), but there should be 3 connectors on the speaker if I remember correctly, not 2 like a regular speaker.

Hmm...luckily for me the 99 was a drop in fit. I used ALLDATA because my brother's a mechanic so he's got free access....good stuff.
