ebrake lightscottb2004 02-25-2004, 10:42 AM hey guys my ebrake light was going off and on just randomly, when the ebrake wasn't engaged obviously. i took it into the subaru dealership and they said that i needed new front brake pads. it sounded kinda strange to me, but then again i don't know too much about these subaru's yet....so i was just wondering...is this true or do they not know what the f they're talking about? freakray 02-25-2004, 11:18 AM Did you look in the owner's book, it should tell you stuff like this in the owner's book. ragnarok 02-25-2004, 12:02 PM They're possibly right. I had the same problem and i also took it in to dealership and it was one of 2 things, bad brakes or a lose connection. On mine there was a lose connection with some sensor that triggers the e-brake light and was fixed in a few mins and my brakes werent touched but i have heard that brakes being low on subarus will also cause it. LjasonL 02-25-2004, 06:54 PM On most modern cars that's not only an "ebrake" light but a "general brake" light. It will light up whenever it senses a problems with the brake system. 2turboimports 02-25-2004, 09:32 PM when the the pads wear down it causes the brake fluid level to fall since there's more room in system due to the piston moving out. it's flashing on and off intermittently b/c the level is just low enough to trigger the light, but not low enough for the brake fluid to keep splashing the sensor. scottb2004 03-05-2004, 11:33 AM well....i had the front brake pads replaced and no more brake light. thanks guys. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
