i was racing my friend the other day, and i destroyed him... now my question is, is the SL faster? or is he just a bad driver?

the website that i am looking at lists this: fist time is 0-60 next is quarter mile
1993 Chevrolet Camaro V-6 9.0 16.6

1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL 8.5 16.4

again not sure if this is accurate noticed some discrepancies

http://v6camaro.homestead.com/files/v6performance.htm has some of their stats listed, but I am not sure what the SL runs. i would assume you are faster, but not positive.

The SL is faster... V6 camaro's and firebirds are slow.
Of course, driver does come into play...
But still, the Mitsu comes out on top =)

i think those numbers are wrong.... Specially for the SL 0-60

Neither car is a rocket ship and about the same area in 1/4 times, so you can count on the driver to make the biggest difference.

Every 6 cylinder camaro/firebird i've raced in my Eclipse Spyder GS, i've beat. I would only assume any 3000gt is faster than my low model Eclipse, but i'm only assuming.

94, 95 Camaro v6's were dogs, only had the menial 3.4 (160hp), but the 96+ has the much better 3.8 (200hp) now i like both cars but performance data i have seen puts the camaro a little better than an SL, but real life could always be different.

V6 Camaro's having better stats than SL's? Ehhh I don't think so. Everywhere I look I see V6 camaro's running low high 15's to low 16's...

2 things, 1, try racing a Y87 performance package v6 camaro.
2, they run low fifteens as far as i know.

If they ran low 15's they'd keep even with me more than they do... Sorry but I raced like 4 or 5 of them and destroyed each one. Kinda low odds that each of those people was a bad driver....

I cannot speak from experience, don't get me wrong, never raced an SL, hardly ever see one. Every website I have seen lists SL 0-60 time @8sec, while the v6 is in 7s. As for 1/4 mile, I see all SLs listed in the 16s. Only some slow-ass driver couldn't take the 3.8 into 15s... and the y87 upgrade is not as uncommon as you think, any RS or v6 with dual exhaust usually has it, plus it is one of the first mods people do... you guys said "almost stock" so i think that counts as almost stock, and is good for almost half a sec.

so are you saying that almost stock the 3.8 will hit 15.0 or less making it faster than the DOHC N/A :grinno:

Those times are way too high for the SL. Mine runs 6.8 0-60 and 14.9 in the 1/4. And I'm stock with a 5spd.

You guys' own Slimmcb posted:

1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL 8.5 16.4

But that is the Camaro 3.4, not the 3.8
I'm pretty sure that Inake, Exhaust, and LSD w/ 3.42s (the Y87 mod) will bring the 3.8 down to 15 flat.
If your SL runs that quick, then all the stats must be wrong, or mismarked as SL when they are for the base model. With that in mind, I'd say it comes down to a driver's race then. But I still dont think the SL could spank the Camaro.

I've seen a lot of messed up times for the SL, thats why I took mine to the track in the first place. I'm just speaking from experience. The V6's never gave me a problem. But the V8's... is another story =)
