D16a1FortechMini11 02-23-2004, 01:18 AM i was told that the D16A1 engine in my 87 RS integra, was what the based they VTEC off of because it has Dual cams, is this true? FortechMini11 02-24-2004, 01:48 AM or not Plastic_Fork 02-24-2004, 12:31 PM Dunno. I think the D16A1 was another version of the ZC motor, but it could have easily been the predecessor of the B-series non-VTEC as much as the B-series VTEC. No way to really know though without asking Honda I guess. daveshapellSVT 02-25-2004, 09:16 AM who cares, they're all crap lol j/k i got a D series in my 04 civic.. it has a massive 115 horsies.. it also does 0-60 in a decade.. good thing it's my beater:) keep on swappin boys tsugsr 02-25-2004, 09:59 AM I had the same car with that motor, it was a fun little car, not to fast but still fun, it loved bein reved hard, i would take it to 5-5.5K every shift and it ran great for the four years i had it and it still runs great. as for your question im not really sure, but your right about it being a 1.6 DOHC you just really gotta ask honda themselves, dont go to a honda dealer, they wont know shit. tsugsr 02-25-2004, 09:59 AM the sales people that is, you might beable to find the shop manager and ask him/her FortechMini11 02-26-2004, 04:55 PM well thanks; yes i still take mine up to 5 or 6 and i got 239,000miles heh, i've had to replace the fuel pump relay and the turn signal and wiper switch unit, those are a b*tch to find, but other than that this damn thing won't die vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
