Buying a 00'-02' WRX.90Stangjc 02-22-2004, 11:26 PM Ok, right now i'm fixing the little things on my car to get rid of it and get a WRX. Now, the STI's are out of my price range but as far as the WRX is concered how is the power, handling, fuel economy, ect. on them? My mustang has great power, awful handling, awful fuel economy, awful traction. So basically i'm looking for the exact opposite of what i currently have except i still want that little oooooompph at the track. So are there any problems with them that yall have seen so far with yours? Or are they good to go? Anyway i'm exicted about getting one simply because of the fun of all-wheel drive launches and the turbo (i love the sound of it w/ the bov). Thanks for any replys. freakray 02-23-2004, 12:34 AM Let me start by correcting you. If you're going to get a WRX you will be getting either a 2002 or 2003 if you're looking for a 'bug-eye' or a 2004 for the new shape. There was no 2000 or 2001 WRX in the USA. Alldar 02-23-2004, 05:05 AM and if your planing to beat it alot on the track watch out the 5speed trans like crap out on you 90Stangjc 02-23-2004, 01:03 PM Ok, thanks for the replys. So i guess it will be 02 then, lol. And the 5 speeds take a poop early on? Ouch..... Well i was defiently going to get a 5-speed because for me that defeats the whole purpose of launching an all-wheel drive. Anything else you guys know of that doesnt hold up on the cars? Thanks. Alldar 02-24-2004, 06:54 AM nope the trans is touchy thats about it... other wise is a tough car... ya always could get your hands a 6six speed from a STi :) it should fit in there too LjasonL 02-24-2004, 03:39 PM If you can launch it right the tranny should hold out on you. The 03 and above supposedly have some system that keeps the clutch from dropping too fast or too hard, saving the transmission. I don't know anything about it, but I know a guy with an 03 who cuts consistent 1.8 60 foot's pretty much stock and nothing has broke. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
