'32 Chevy Coupe95_GSX 02-22-2004, 05:55 PM my uncle and i have a coupe we would like to modernize, we want to make it fuel injected, rack and pinion steering, possibly IFS, A/C. so i was thinking of finding a wrecked mid to late 90's F-Body (Camaro, Firebird, Trans Am) with a LT-1 to start the project off. What do you guys think of this idea and do you know of any online salvage yards that i could search for a car or the parts that i need. thankyou for your help. 89IROC&RS 02-22-2004, 07:52 PM personally i would say if thats they way your gonna go, why not spring for the LS1??? much better engine, and when all is said and done, its probly just as much work. as far as the computer, wiring, engine, and components. or an LS6??? ;) 95_GSX 02-22-2004, 10:39 PM yeah i was also considering a wrecked fire hawk, or a WS6. but do you know of any online salvage yards?? ;) Chevyracincamaro 02-23-2004, 02:21 PM check out www.hpsalvage.com ... they have decent prices on some used stuff, and they only use good used parts, if that makes sense... 89IROC&RS 02-23-2004, 11:24 PM www.hawksthirdgen.com (or org dont remember) www.thirdgenresourse.com www.jimmysbowtie.com try those. 95_GSX 02-24-2004, 01:11 AM thanks for the web-sites i will go search them out, if any more come to mind please post them. oh and do you guys know of any place to find cars that insurance companies have made claims on, and are up for sale. thanks again for all your help. EDIT>>> hey i went and checked out those web-sites, they are looking really promising and i think will be a big help on this project, thanks again. ;) FortechMini11 02-24-2004, 02:31 AM perhaps an LT-5 89IROC&RS 02-24-2004, 06:04 PM very cool idea, very complicated swap. and geebus what a bear to work on. but oh so very cool. very glad you brought that up. 95_GSX 02-24-2004, 11:30 PM well i am new to the F-Body scene, and really the whole fuel injected GM world, so what is so special about an LT-5??? thanks. 89IROC&RS 02-25-2004, 12:41 AM well, actually the LT5 is a vette engine. its a LT1 based 5.7L V8, 32V dual overhead cam. designed either entirely or in a major part by lotus. 405hp, very cool looking. do a websearch im sure youll find more than we can tell ya. 95_GSX 02-25-2004, 12:48 AM alright thanks, i will go hit up google. 89IROC&RS 02-25-2004, 12:51 AM try not to drool too much, its a sexy beast, actually i think it would look really quite badass between the fenders of a 32 chevy. 89IROC&RS 02-25-2004, 12:55 AM www.ZR1.net go to the site map buttons on the left, there is one for LT5 specs, not a very good pic of the engine, but lots of info. imsure theres a gallery somewhere in there, but im off to bed. 89IROC&RS 02-25-2004, 12:57 AM 95_GSX 02-25-2004, 11:12 AM yea i checked those sites out, i would love to have that engine for my car, problem is i found one on e-bay with a starting bid of $10,000( i didn't expect it to be cheap) and that was only for a an engine. i would still need an ecu wiring harness, sensors, transmission. i think i am going to hit up hpsalvage and see what an LS1 with a Six-speed would run. thanks for the info and links on the LT5 89IROC&RS 02-25-2004, 06:27 PM no prob man, guess i just got a bit excited, those engines make me happy in pants :) 95_GSX 02-25-2004, 09:56 PM yea when i saw the pictures and the info sheet on the motor, it blew me away. an amazing engine, and you know there has to be tons more potential there(God bless Turbo's;)). 89IROC&RS 02-25-2004, 10:08 PM oh yeah man, a twin turbo setup on that engine would be amazing.
