68 Shelby Elenor cloneFrazmanone 02-22-2004, 03:26 AM I'm gonna try posting pics. I have just started an Elenor clone. I have flaired the fenders, Cut the front end to pieces and swapped a prostock motor. Frazmanone 02-22-2004, 04:11 AM Ok trying to post pics http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531Elenor.JPG remus_nl 02-22-2004, 04:25 AM looks very cool  welcome! Frazmanone 02-22-2004, 04:45 AM Thanks I think that I am going to start on the interior because it does not have near as much fabracation. chinesechickens 02-22-2004, 09:54 AM looks very nice.what kit is that?monogram? chris labandabonnot 02-22-2004, 10:04 AM Ambitious project for a first AF thread! Welcome and hope to see more of it soon! Frazmanone 02-23-2004, 08:05 PM Here is a pic of the build up of plastic on the front end. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531build_up.JPG Frazmanone 02-23-2004, 08:07 PM oh and the kit is AMT Shelby GT-500. Sorry for blurry pic tonioseven 02-23-2004, 08:16 PM Good start on it! I wish you the best of luck! :) Bloodhound 02-24-2004, 12:24 AM awesome work dude, engine looks cool. what are you using for reference photos? the front end looks a bit off. Frazmanone 02-24-2004, 09:07 AM The photos That I am using are from Eleanorclub.com. Tough to build out of styrene though, puddy and I are gonna get to be good friends. The engine is a Chevy prostock motor that I switched around to Ford config. Orion37170 02-24-2004, 09:42 AM Looking real good. I am planning this too, but using a amt shelby gt350 because its also as eleanor a 67 and the gt500 is a 68 where the grille is a bit wider. Difference between gt350 and 500 are not big, only hood and machine but both don't matter because Eleanor has had custom hood and motor 86_SR5 02-24-2004, 12:23 PM Chris from SAS should use the 68 gt500 and sell a full Elanor conversion kit, containing everyhting from the bumpers, skirts, GT500E stickers, and the hood. Everything else would be up to you. Orion37170 02-24-2004, 02:25 PM That would be great, do you hear, chris :D BTW, does anyone have some spare decals for me? Frazmanone 02-25-2004, 10:26 PM Am I crazy? I just spent over Two hours building a stearing wheel. I had to cut up the old one for the ring, then I had to turn a new center before gluing the photo etched spokes on. Frazmanone 02-25-2004, 10:28 PM I will try to post pics tomorrow, my camera is giving me fits. Orion37170 02-26-2004, 04:23 AM wow! Any Pics already? edit: maybe i had to read all postings before answering Frazmanone 02-26-2004, 07:23 PM Here we go This is the first round with the puddy.http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531First_puddy.JPG And here is the pic of my steering wheelhttp://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531stearing_wheel.JPGI still have a center cap for the wheel, and I may detail the wood a little more. Orion37170 02-27-2004, 05:23 AM Cool! aviv 02-27-2004, 06:05 AM cool nice project!! Frazmanone 02-27-2004, 11:48 AM Thanks allot, I did some more work on the wheel... Drilled all the screw holes in the wood, and put more photo etch parts on the dash including the keys and pony key chain. I will try to post pics when I get home from work. I am hoping that it will be good enough to be in the interior gallery. Please keep the comments coming they keep me going and let me know what I need to work on. :grinno: Frazmanone 02-28-2004, 06:32 PM Ok here is a new pic with the Interior about 90% finished.http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/149531interior.JPG Its realy hard to see because it is all black. Do you guys have any tips for shooting an all black interior? Frazmanone 02-28-2004, 06:46 PM I shot another pic out side and hope that you guys can see better.http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531interior_pic.JPG SchuberT 02-29-2004, 01:16 AM looks Very nice... great job Orion37170 02-29-2004, 04:20 AM :iagree: Frazmanone 02-29-2004, 01:52 PM I did a mock up with some Glanzens and she looks pretty agressive if I dare to say so. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531Front_corner.JPG To get it to sit like this wil require some major chassis fab. Let me know what you guys think. JBarry 02-29-2004, 02:27 PM Looking good! Nice detailing bro. I look forward to seeing this great car being built. J. Barry Orion37170 02-29-2004, 05:06 PM please doput it this low ;) 86_SR5 02-29-2004, 05:08 PM Wont be elanore if its that low. but it looks damn good!! Frazmanone 02-29-2004, 08:06 PM Ya I have been toying with the Idea of giving the car it's own flavor. I'm not sure if I should build the cowl hood or leave this one alone. Also I kinda think the charcoal grey has been done, and done, and done. What do you guys think. 86_SR5 02-29-2004, 09:06 PM Honestly....blue with white stripes and those gold rims would look hot. Frazmanone 03-01-2004, 02:19 AM The blue and white sounds killer, but I just was watching American Hot Rod and that Boyds red with the white Looks SOOO Saucy. Then I would not be a clone mor of a sibling. Whatcha think? 86_SR5 03-01-2004, 05:51 PM I'm still preferring that blue with white stripe, or vice versa, but it's up to you. Frazmanone 03-03-2004, 04:06 AM Well boys and girls...I just finished cutting the rear end of my Shelby to bits. I had to go and tuck those 19's and as a result had to back half the chassis and remove the back seat, Also I am building a custom rod style independant rear end. :banghead: I should have stuck with the Eleanor theme. Oh well here is a pic of my Razor saw maddness. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531Hack_the_back.JPG Please a little feedback It keeps me going. 86_SR5 03-03-2004, 06:44 PM cool. Decided on a color theme yet? I think the wheels wll fit just fine, and hey, who needs a backseat anyway? Bloodhound 03-03-2004, 10:29 PM nice chassis work! Frazmanone 03-04-2004, 11:07 AM Thanks guys. I have been working on the rear end, wich is gonna be a Ford 9" center independant rear, like hod rod style. It's crazy there is like 50 parts to it. All scratchbuilt. I will have pics tonight or tomorrow.Oh and far as the color I have kinda decided on the blue and white with a twist if I can pull it off. 86_SR5 03-04-2004, 09:20 PM Very cool idea. The blue and white just reminds me of the 66 gt350 colr scheme, and I love it. Might build the hertz in that color scheme. Frazmanone 03-06-2004, 12:59 AM Ok here is a pic of the rear end in progress. Everything but the center section is scratchbuilt. Each u-joint has ten parts and there are four u-joints. I am on hold tonight because I need styrene for the link bars. I forgot to put the brake rotors on for the pic. Hopefully I will be painting it tomorrow. Tell me what you think, Am I crazy? :screwy: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531independant.JPG slk320 03-06-2004, 10:28 AM Nice work! that rear end is impressive piece of scratchbuilding! ;) Mean_B16 03-06-2004, 07:05 PM Very impressed, keep this going as I would love to see the finished project. Frazmanone 03-08-2004, 01:17 AM Ok here is a pic of the third member that I rebuilt. I thought that the webing needed a little somthing. I stil have to build the link bars and the shocks. I have built the rod ends that will be going on the small pieces of wire on the bottom of the rear end. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531Painted_rear_axle.JPG z_dutchie 03-08-2004, 04:12 AM stunning project dude keep going and it will turn out fine  Frazmanone 03-15-2004, 11:29 PM Ok I did some work on plumbing the motor, Fuel lines from the fuel regulator up to the carbs. Check it out http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531motor.JPG Bloodhound 03-16-2004, 12:51 AM Nice engine! DriftEVO5 03-16-2004, 02:27 AM wicked!!! Frazmanone 03-16-2004, 02:45 AM Thanks guys, the comments keep me going. I love coming to the forum and looking at all the great builds and make me strive to get better. I just hope the paint comes out, I have too much into the body for it not to. Frazmanone 04-12-2004, 04:01 AM I am going crazy building headers :banghead: , I have gone through six different designs and like the one I have now, but I am going to have to tottally rebuild the frame to get them to work :screwy: These look so cool I am willing to do it. Here is a pic of the ones that did not work. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/149531motor_closeup.JPG ol' dude 04-12-2004, 07:54 AM The project is looking awesome, keep us posted, and finish this thing, can't wait!!!!!!! Frazmanone 04-13-2004, 12:31 AM Thanks everyone this one is killing me. Every time I turn around I have more scratch building to do, I love it. the headers look sick, it will be worth it to cut up the front fame to get them in there. I have one more tube to bnd then I will have pics. Frazmanone 04-13-2004, 01:16 AM Ok I know the pic is not perfect but the headers are sick. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/149531crazy_headers.JPG Tell me what you think. 675datsun 04-13-2004, 01:50 AM Great job with the headers...smooth bends you've got skillz! Is the design completely dictated by space limitations or do they "snake" around just to look cool?? I like it. Like the carb detail too. _WIDE_LOAD_ 04-13-2004, 02:02 AM thats shit is off the HOOK man. its mad crazy but F'n awesome. i have a question, why go IRS, should just stuck wit live alex and 4 link. wouldn't look quite as good but be hell easier to make. its hard to belive its a model... and 675datsun. the extractors might be tuned length thats why they snake (well thats why the ones on my valiant are like that.. :p :D GvEman 04-13-2004, 03:06 AM those heders looks sick! =P here you might have some nice headers. http://www.lgmotorsports.com/OCLS1_Fbody_Exhaust.htm good luck with that shelby.=) Frazmanone 04-13-2004, 02:21 PM Thanks a bunch guys...You should see how much weldind rod I waisted to get to this point. The loops and bends are both to get equal length tubes and crazy space limitations. The firewall will a total rebuild as well as fabbing the front third of the chassis. Heck I already did the back third. The IRS was because I wanted to use the stock transmisson tunnel, also It kinda has a serious cool factor. jgmodelcars 04-13-2004, 03:50 PM very nice rear end! (that sounded wrong but you know what i mean), the headers look especially mean as well! Frazmanone 04-14-2004, 02:38 AM Thanks Justin...I was feeling totally crazy when I built the rear end, there is over 120 parts in the rear axile assembly, including all the link bars. I think my next pics will include the pile of header parts that did not work, just to let everone know to keep trying when things do not pan out the first time. There are some seriously talented people on this site, and I learn a ton from thes guys...and gals. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
