Which gen. GTI is the best?bassik277 01-02-2002, 02:54 PM Which generation GTI do you think is the best in terms of looks, performance, etc. The A1 (old skool) the A2 (pretty old skool) the A3 (newer, kinda boxy) or the A4 (new and round) Pictures posted below: THE FIRST GENERATION A1: bassik277 01-02-2002, 02:56 PM THE A2 GENERATION: bassik277 01-02-2002, 02:56 PM THE A3 GENERATION: bassik277 01-02-2002, 02:57 PM THE A4 GENERATION: DJ Cripsen 01-03-2002, 10:38 PM im gonna say 3rd gen, I like the looks alot but the new 4g is cool cuz its faster. BTW, Ive only just started to like the VW's I always thought they were for girls or hippys but the GTI VR6 is definatly a mans car. DanRico17 01-04-2002, 04:24 AM I agree with the 4th generation definately. And i used to think the same thing about VWs until my sister got a 1.8t. Now i like them, and i LOVE the new GTI VR6 TriStateGuy 01-16-2002, 11:27 AM 4th gen is the latest and greatest. How can u say no to a 200hp, 6sp man pocket rocket?? Or the very tunable 1.8t?? Dont forget about that great looking interior seantree 01-29-2002, 12:48 AM hrmm, i've had 2 A2's and now own an A3, i must say i like the body of the A3, but the power of the A2 16v is greatly missed. this 2.0l 8v just is not as quick, and it kills me :) Racing Rice 01-29-2002, 01:46 PM I want to get rid of the Civic for a 25th Ann. GTI. I love that car.:D ravenr1682 02-09-2002, 05:28 PM Well i do own an mk1 gti so i am bias, and as much as i want a new gti with the 1.8t with its smooth quiet ride and 180 hp, My vote goes to the original hot hatch, the mk1 gti. Wade T. 03-06-2002, 02:33 AM Yeah, MKIs are the best. They are the lightest handle engine swaps well. -EclipZ- 03-16-2002, 11:34 AM :p THE BEST VERSION, OF COURSE, is the MK IV GTI VR6.... tynebeach 04-08-2002, 09:58 PM I would have to say i like the A2 through the A4. By the way im wondering if one of you could post the dates for me of when all these generations start and end cause im looking into buying a GTI or Golf some time soon. thanks alot tynebeach 05-04-2002, 09:57 AM Anyone out there? Does anyone know when the different generations started? and the horsepower that they came stock with?   sacmoses 05-08-2002, 04:23 PM give me an "A" give me a "4" what does that spell? I'd have to go with the A1 model amidst the craze over the newer generations...:silly2: tynebeach 05-09-2002, 03:26 PM Just curious, but how come you like the A1 generation better? BertOx 05-27-2002, 09:02 AM This is going to be the best Golf yet (http://www.news24.com/News24/Wheels24/0,3999,2-15_1137134,00.html) :frog: JUS_GT_EYEZ 05-30-2002, 12:37 PM Originally posted by tynebeach Anyone out there? But if i really had to choose as if it were a matter of life or death. I would probably say the A4 cuz i'm getting one pretty soon so i'm really excited !!!!! peace !!! out!!!! :D  :bandit: :grey: :sun: twisted_axel 06-19-2002, 08:21 AM :flipa: to all of those who don't like the A 2 i have to say the A 2 with the G 60 special edition which most of you will never see but the A 2 with the VR6 conversion is the best out of all of them  AXEL Peace see you on the autobahns NOT!!!! ispyGTI 09-09-2002, 03:52 AM A1 hands down. I have an A2 GTI, its fun... Ive had an A3 GTI, it was funner... but by far the A1 is funnest. Its so light and simple to do swaps or mods on. Chirp tires in 1-3 and beat every car off the line. And they are much more rare and harder to come by compared to the others. Deakins 09-09-2002, 04:50 AM I agree, the A1 is the best GTi, I love mine. But the A4 is a better car. kap0ne 10-13-2002, 03:01 PM 1988 gti 16v hpguyrwd 11-27-2002, 01:58 PM The A1 and A2 seem to be the purer driver's car. The A3 and A4 are much nicer, but they just dont have any spirit like the old ones. The A1&A2 will make you giggle like a school girl sometimes and make you want to die sometimes<dang CIS-e>. The newer ones are nice and quiet and surprisingly quick but wallow in the twisties like a bloated hippo but can be made to handle nicely, but overall my votes goes to the A2. Best overall compromise. Racingforspain 12-20-2002, 03:47 PM Both, 2nd and 4th gen. are best in terms of good-look to me. So my preferences are as follows: 1st.- 2nd gen. 2nd.- 4th gen. 3rd.- 1st gen. 4th.- 3rd gen. Cheers! ;) Jastor 01-01-2003, 08:13 PM Not sure about the rest but in the United States the A1 GTI was offered from 1983-1984 only, and I believe stock HP was somewhere in the neighborhood of 90hp. Sean Deakins 01-01-2003, 08:49 PM Correct, but in "Europe" aka Germany, they introduced it in 1976 with the 110hp 1.6L engine from the Audi 80 GTE. GreatOne01 01-02-2003, 02:21 PM I prefer the Mk3 GTI just because of the looks :D Deakins 01-02-2003, 09:38 PM Originally posted by JUS_GT_EYEZ a1 = >84 a2 = 85-92 a3 = 92-98 a4 = 99- present those are approx off the top of my head. as far as hp? I have just sold a 16v Jetta to buy this 90 8v, it`s a nice rare color over here and has original leather interior which is also hard to come by. That early car was almost too Spartan for even my tastes. Motor pulled decent (read: everything else on the roads back then s*ck*d even worse), couldn't dial out the understeer and after a year of knocking down cones at the autocrosses I sold it and went back to RWD (used Datsun 510, yee ha!) for a while. A little older, and a married homeowner, got a 86 GTI 8V for the (new) spouse -- it again helped that my brother worked at VWoA, got our GTI's at Hyundai prices. Much more refined inside, still pulled nice and still understeered, but less and I suspect due to improvements in tires over a decade. Loved the MFI, and with a light foot I could touch 40MPG cumulative for my commute as often as not. Wife wanted power steering and A/C so we got a 1989 GTI 16V and I took over the '86. Big difference. The new car felt like a vest-pocket Mercedes, plusher but the crisp feel of the earlier, stripped-down car was gone. It didn't pull down low like the 8V, either; once it got spooled up, it was fine, but it never liked the cut-n-thrust of traffic. It looked better in metallic cobalt blue --- a color I rarely saw on other VW's -- and especially after I dropped it a couple of inches with a mail-order spring and strut kit; the kids at the local gas station kept offering to buy it from her. We should've taken them up on it, the kit had way too stiff springs and way too soft shocks (I knew I should have stuck with Konis instead) so the car pogo-ed it's way through the last three years she had it. What sent us car shopping for a replacement, though, were the unsolvable electrical gremlins that more than once left us stranded. We "went Jap" :smoka: after that with no regrets, and my brother had changed jobs anyway by then so the financial incentive to stick with VW's was gone. With my limited (???) experience, I'd say the one I liked best was that early A2. An A1's engine, trans and suspension in a Rabbit pickup would be interesting, though! fwdfreak 02-01-2003, 09:14 AM A2 is da best. we had one and it was hellouva fun GreatOne01 02-02-2003, 11:40 AM I still stick with the mk3. ONEflyGTI 07-12-2003, 12:36 AM i would have to go with the A3 body style. Yeah havin the 2.0l sucks, but if you drop an ATP T3/T4 hybrid turbo in it...ooohhh man, good times. The newest GTis are coo, but they are getting alittle round. Hopefully VW can redeem themselves with the R32, cause that thing is sick! paulkots 07-12-2003, 02:49 AM i think a2 is the best! i am working on my project a2 right now! it is going to be a mk2 with mk3 dash, seats, engine(vr6), tranny, and suspension! i love mixing cars! its so fun! but alot of money!:thefinger but its ok cause i work in a vw performance shop! sssgucci 07-12-2003, 10:25 AM Wow, just looked at the results. You gotta be insane to vote mk4 (a4) to be top. In my books there can only be a two horse race. The mk1 or the mk2. The mk1 started the whole gti hot hatch thing off. Its stil great to drive and a true classic. The mk2 is arguabley even better. The mk1 and mk2 have charachter and style. They have the right feel, the look. They feel rewarding to drive. Then things started to go all wrong after that. The mk3, man they look sh*t stock. With the mk1 and 2, even in standard form they look great. The mk3 is bland and interior plastic are noticeably poor quality. The 8v gti doesnt do the gti badge any justice. Dont get me wrong, if modified, the mk3 can be made to look really nice. the only thing good that came out of the mk3 is the vr6 engine. Actually thats not too good either, because the the corrado 2.9 is better. The mk4 well, I think it started off poorly. The stupid 125 bhp gti? how can you call that gti!? Then the 150bhp gti, well I panned one of those in a stock mk2 16v without any problems at all. I think things improved thouigh when they uprated it to the 180bhp gti. Also the mk4 anniversery is nice. But obviosluy the r32 rules over the mk4 range. To drive they drive like any other car. As time has gone by, you can see the changes, the mk3 is bland, the mk4 is also bland and bigger and bulkier and not distinctive enough to stand out in a crowd of other cars. im talking stock terms. Its gotta be the mk1 or mk2, after that the best w was the corrado.(even thats based on mk2 floorpan) Then its hard to say, modified terms, i reckon maybe mk3 because it looks great in euro look. Btw I drive a mk2 (2.9) and have owned a mk3 vr, my mum now drives a mk4 gti. :biggrin2: franmav4 07-16-2003, 06:43 AM All Golf GTi Stock BHP Specs (UK) Mk1 GTi 1.6 - 112bhp Mk1 GTi 1.8 Campaign - 115bhp Mk1 GTi 16s (16v) 1.6 soupapes Oettinger - 136bhp Mk2 GTi 1.8 - 115bhp Mk2 GTi 16v - 139bhp Mk2 GTi 16v 2.0 Oettinger - 180bhp Mk2 G60 1.8 Supercharged - 160bhp Mk2 Rallye 1.8 Supercharged - 160bhp Mk2 Limited GTi 16v G60 - 210bhp! The Mk4 1.8T need 180bhp to beat a Mk2 Gti 16v. The Mk1 GTi is the most fun to drive due to it fat midrange torque. I think the Mk2 is the best as it had the best range such as 4WD (Syncros) to Supercharged. It even had an offroader F. franmav4 07-16-2003, 06:57 AM There was also a the first GTi Mk1 which was Twin Carb weighing only 810kg with a 4 speed gearbox and single headlamp grill. Not sure but I think it pumped out about 100bhp from its 1.6. Has anyone raced a Mk2 Limited with a Mk4 R32? It could be close! The lighter Mk2 Limited G60 pumped out 210bhp from its supercharged 4 cylinder 16v vs the huge and 3.2 litre of the Mk4 pumping out 238bhp? Well let me know. http://www.basval.nl/html/Limited.html F. Deakins 07-16-2003, 08:06 AM franmav4 : You have some of your numbers mixed up. franmav4 07-16-2003, 11:00 AM So correct me then. Im not saying I am right. I am aware that in diffrent countrys that power ratings are diffrent due to emmisions laws, catalytic converters and fuel ratings. I've obtained this info from the "UK" manuals, Original UK brochures, "The Golf" Magazine, and various websites. There is an argument between the Mk1 1.6 GTi being 110 and 112 bhp. There is an argument between the Mk2 1.8 GTi being 112 and 115 bhp. There are questions of the early Mk4 GTi 1.8 having 125bhp where as the Mk4 GTi 2.0 only had 115bhp. > The Mk4 GTi new 1.8 engine was sluggish so VW replaced it for the older 2.0 although it had less power it had more torque punch. The 1.8T which is effectively the GTi 1.8 with a turbo had 150bhp, but later came with the 180bhp option. The Mk2 Golf limited is between 208 and 210bhp. The UK Mk2 GTi 16v 139bhp had a higher power rating than the crappy US Mk2 GTi 16v 123bhp due to its smaller restricted 40mm intake manifold and milder cams and a cat. The UK spec had 50mm intake manifolds and a better cam with no cat until 1992. The us got a slightly more powerful 16v 134bhp in 1991 The Mk2 16v Oettinger could be anything between 170bhp and 225bhp depending on the tune. The V5 was originally advertised as 150bhp. The VR6 was a 2.8 with 174bhp and also had a 2.9 litre 190bhp but was only found in the corrado. R32 is rated in PS. The list can go on. (A2) Mk2 is the best all round. F. sssgucci 07-16-2003, 11:09 AM Im not sure on the exact figure but im sure the vr6 highline had higher output than the standard vr. About 180-185 i think. franmav4 07-16-2003, 11:25 AM Not sure about the Highlines abroad, The Uk VR6 highlines were the same engine but with diffrent options such as Leather trim, aircon and special paint colours. http://home.online.no/~kseland/golf1.htm http://www.veedubz.co.za/tech/vwhist.htm That is interesting to find out though which page did you see that? F. sssgucci 07-16-2003, 11:44 AM yea, they had extras also extra power in england. Manangent and throttle body. Deakins 07-17-2003, 11:50 AM The original mk1 GTi had a 110hp 1.6L engine from the Audi 80 GTE, but got the 112hp 1.8L DX engine in 1982. And yes, the R32 is rated at 241PS, ~238HP, but if you convert one you have to convert all, the current 1.8t is rated at 180PS or 177.5HP. The power ratings also changed between the generations, so check my list earlier in this thread. BreakBeat 08-15-2003, 09:53 PM I love my MKIV, but i definetly wouldn't mind owning a VR6 MKII ImportRev4 08-26-2003, 11:21 AM it seems like everyone is basically sayin the mk3's are the worst i wanted to get one cause i thought the mk3's and mk4's looked the best but i couldnt afford the mk4's i wasnt really sure about the speed and hp and stuff like that so are the mk3's still pretty quick or should i not even worry about them A3GTI_Mikey 09-04-2003, 08:39 AM If the Mk1 never came out, the GTI would have never exsited. But I think the Mk2's are the best. My first car was a 1983 GTI rabbit back in the later 80's then had a 1.8 16V GTI and so on. I would have to say that the A1 was awesome, hauled ass handles great and looked great if you took off the stripes on the side. But the A2 16V GTI 1.8 not 2.0 was a beast of a car. That thing kicked everyones a**, even in palmdale. I beat everyone. Why do think there is nothing made for this car, hardly? That engine was the best one put out for sure and the car was tight as well! jason Although the new 20th anniv. edition is sweet and the R32, well....! bobby28384 12-03-2003, 02:40 PM I really like the Mk. II GTI. It looks the best of all the VW's. Just my opinion though! :icon16: Mieke 12-17-2003, 11:10 AM I've got to say the A4 and the best model is the TDi 150. It's got more mid range torque than a Porsche Boxster. For real world driving it's unbeatable - it goes like a rocket! drac 01-03-2004, 03:33 AM I vote old skool all the way! I have owned 3 A1 and one A2. I must say the A2 was more comfortable but lacked heart. I feel the same way about the latest GTI's. When I drove one of the current GTI's I kind of feel like I'm in a cadillac. All this luxury car crap. If you ever drive a A1 you will understand what I'm talking about. The A1 was just bare bones and every aspect of it was about performance. Bunta 02-01-2004, 11:25 PM I voted Mk2. A perfectly maintained Mk1 GTI would be my choice to own, but the Mk2 16v was the best all around GTI ever. The power matched the chassis matched the brakes matched the steering geometry on and on and on. The new ones are too fat and too powerful for their stock suspensions. I hear that Fifth Gen. Golf is going to be the best one ever though. They added a completely different rear suspension (about time), better! steering geometry and more comprehensive power assist, eliminated a lot of torque steer and body roll problems that the Mk IV's and V's had. Plus, I think the sixteen valve might come back to the U.S. Sounds like a Honda killer for sure, especially since the new Civics have Mac struts... kap0ne 02-01-2004, 11:48 PM omg i can' belive this thread still lives but mk2 has the best potenial tylerrules84 02-02-2004, 01:25 AM Well... I have a hard time deciding between a Mk1 and a Mk2. But I'll say Mk2... For these reasons... Mk1... awesome if you're just a single person and want to have fun beating around a car that will never die... but if you have a family or have to transport people often, its not the most friendly car. Mk2... nicer interior than the Mk1, the 16v screams if you know how to drive it... but it did get a bit heavier, and wasn't quite as hardcore as the original. Mk3... no power, crappy suspension, had a nice interior though. And it weighs way too much. Mk4... holy crap its a fat little thing. Waaaay too many niceties, the interiors and exteriors are very nice, but quality control problems have made this gen a letdown. Mk5... yay! welcome return of the 2.0 16v... this time in turbo form. But... again it has gained weight, and it just looks like a Civic Si... i don't like it... So my order goes... Mk2, Mk1, Mk3, Mk4, Mk5 Bunta 02-02-2004, 01:40 AM You'll like it better when you see it in real life. Then it'll bump the Mk3 down a peg on your list because the GTI is back. I think the MkV Golf GL is going to be better all around than the Mk III and Mk IV 8v GTI (or maybe even turbo). pdxgti8v 02-06-2004, 08:29 PM MKII is the absolute best there is......MKIII are lardy, MKIV are SUPER lardy, VW has lost touch with the minimalist, gokart feel that their cars use to have...... http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/466000-466999/466311_35_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/466000-466999/466311_9_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/466000-466999/466311_8_full.jpg My MKII GTI with the soon to be installed VR6 is the ultimate Lamborsari_Merbini 02-06-2004, 08:39 PM for modding and stuff i'd take an a2 but for just your average every day car i'd take the a4( i like the design the best). i dont know why but for some reason i always like the newer designs of everything better. i guess car manufacturers know what we(I) want. for instance the old mercedes and bimmers all look bland to me. old=80's, early 90's btw. termitesgraffix 02-07-2004, 11:27 PM Duh.... 84 A1 i meen come on nothing like the original with sexy round head lights. ooooh yea... and i don't care what anyone says. the bumpers that stick out (not euro bumpers) are hottttt. Fecal Extrusion 02-24-2004, 04:24 PM Sorry, but the license plate BELONGS in the trunk lid, Not in the bumper! I have one of the very last (rare) White A3 VR6 GTI's ever made. ...Best car I ever owned! (And my last car was an Oldsmobile Aurora.) Look at this... 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora New:$43,000 CDN sold used in 2002 $12,000 1999 VW GTI VR6 NEW:$35,000 bought used in 2002 $18,000 What does that tell you about American cars??? kap0ne 02-24-2004, 08:07 PM thats you bought a shit box that noone wants anymore pdxgti8v 02-25-2004, 12:49 AM Hey Fecal, I'd love to remove my front license plate, but we have laws here in this country, in my state, that you must run a front plate, and rather than remove the things for pics, leaving three big screw holes in the bumper(which is how the plate holder came mounted from the factory), i just leave it on...and i stand by my statement. after driving my girlfriends MKIII Vento(Jetta), i'll be sticking with my MKII. Her car has the vr6 and the h&r cupkit, and still handles like a pig ol' fat pig...MKII's rule termitesgraffix 02-25-2004, 07:06 AM yea you have to have front and back plates in maryland too.. sucks. but luckily mine isn't mounted to the bumpre it is supported under the bumper no holes. so when i move to another state, that is the first thing to go. virginia JUST removed their front plate law, so we took it off my girls car too. Boss San 03-02-2004, 11:41 PM The Mk 2 was the hallmark of the Volkswagen Company. Everything after that was straight in the bin, save for the R32; which, sadly will probably be the last good VW unless they get there notes together. Nothing could come close to it while it was in production. kap0ne 03-03-2004, 01:23 AM we have front plate laws in NH but i never put it on my lexus doesn't have it on i have it in the back seat just sitting there just lazy really but on my VW i just kept the paper plate i got when i was waiting for my vanity plates to coem in went a year with the paper plate in the rear window (had a shaved hatch and never made the cut out in the rear bumper) Boss San 03-21-2004, 03:01 AM We got front plate laws here in WA too. I haven't had mine on for about two years though and nobody seems to care. (I broke off.................no really.) Makes me really wonder why it was made into a law in the first place. It's really hard to find the licence plate holder for Mk2's with small bumpers. They don't sell them in stores, and they're impossible to find at a junkyard and still be in one piece. Hah hah, how convinent for me. Boss San 03-21-2004, 03:02 AM I can't believe the Mk4 has the popular vote right now. You make me sad. Slick13 03-21-2004, 01:09 PM I can't believe the Mk4 has the popular vote right now. You make me sad. right let me begin by saying; I agree whole heartedly with boss san oh and also; aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY MK4???????? it is fat, round, slow, heavy handles like a snail............ i could go on......... MK2 is the standard that they have never bettered, it was light, handled well, looks good was fast as fap in whichever GTi version you got, i got one and it can outpace most of the newer ones. these new ones are like humans when ageing. I.E. humans ok till 30 then everything seems to get larger and rounder, (bellies and extra chins) the golf mk4 and mk5 looks like it has been working in a cake factory and been eating all the cream cakes before they were allowed to be packaged. with a standing weight of 1500kg for the mk4 its nearly twice the weight of the mk1. i hate it its just plain ugly. OH MK2 is my vote Boss San 03-21-2004, 11:03 PM Yeah, why spend $23000 on a new car when you can put that into a $200 Mk2 shell. crazypete0013 04-14-2004, 11:21 PM You just can't improve on the original. (emphasis on that period there) I mean they can easily get a 16v (mine has one ;-) or with a little work they can have a 1.8T or with a lot of work even a VR6. i mean you can do anything to them, they turn like they're on rails with some suspension work and with stripped down you can get them down to like 1500 pounds. its insane how awsome they are. i have to give the newer versions some props with their new fangled gismos and gadgets but i still like the old school plain and simple A1 GTi. Boss San 04-15-2004, 08:39 PM word... Areku_x 05-11-2004, 05:23 PM mk4 handles very well, at least mine does with sport suspension that came with it, its fast enought for me, c&c tested latest gti 1.8t they got 0-60 6.4s, 1/4 mile 15s flat. Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad 0.88 g, thats pretty good. I love my mk4 drives like its on rails. Areku_x 05-11-2004, 05:27 PM But r32 is best golf ever made Slick13 05-11-2004, 05:47 PM But r32 is best golf ever made for pure engineering genius yes, (engine, suspension etc) for looks i'm sorry but how can a shopping trolley be desirable??? MK2 ALL THE WAY (and most GTis nowadays would have a lesson taught to them by a Mk2)     Areku_x 05-11-2004, 07:11 PM i love the styling of new r32 so sexy http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/uploads/003__scaled_600_014.jpg Slick13 05-12-2004, 12:51 PM i love the styling of new r32 so sexy http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/uploads/003__scaled_600_014.jpg There is not a lot different to the standard mk4s in all honesty ecept for slightly different valances and its lower. Boss San 05-12-2004, 07:42 PM ...and engine, and susupension, and interior, and plenty more. Still think it's just another Mk4? About the only thing that's left over from the Mk4 is the main shell of the car. DJ Soni 05-13-2004, 02:28 AM i cant see the pictures??? as for looks i ll have to go with the G2 i dont soemthin about it that still attracts me. i know its boxy but i dont know Slick13 05-13-2004, 07:17 PM ...and engine, and susupension, and interior, and plenty more. Still think it's just another Mk4? About the only thing that's left over from the Mk4 is the main shell of the car. As mentioned in a previous post just above. Boss San 05-25-2004, 05:33 PM  Why did you just say that it's not much different then? Slick13 05-25-2004, 07:03 PM Because at the moment he is just talking about it cosmetically, and in my opinion there is nothing different with it compared to the mk4. Except front valance, level from the ground and exhausts Boss San 05-26-2004, 04:28 PM Oh yeah. Incidently, undertoned non-chalant looks that people won't expect to be but another Golf is what the car is all about. VW has kinda made a history on doing that. Slick13 05-29-2004, 10:43 AM Oh yeah. Incidently, undertoned non-chalant looks that people won't expect to be but another Golf is what the car is all about. VW has kinda made a history on doing that. Still reminds me of a shopping trolley though. Its the engine that i'm interested in, I hate the look of it but i'm just contemplating on making a transplant into my mk2 GTi. hummmmm................. Boss San 05-29-2004, 06:20 PM Yeah, it's what's inside that counts doesn't it? If you're gonna try and swap that engine (which is a brilliant idea), you gotta swap the drivetrain as well and get that AWD working overtime. Can you imagine having that setup with the addition of something like the HPA stage 4 kit that gives it around 600hp and can do a 1/4mi. in the low 11's? With the added bonus of being in a Mk2, that thing would probably run high to mid 9's if properly sorted. Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my chin. Ah, we can dream can't we? Slick13 05-30-2004, 08:42 PM Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my chin. Don't worry if i ever get round to it, i shall post pictures. Oh and heres a bib it will protect your nice shirt from getting drool stains.   Boss San 05-31-2004, 04:15 PM I guess this shirt has the least amount of stains. So I guess it is one of my "nice" shirts. :screwy: hexum212 04-03-2005, 07:52 PM 3rd gen! all the test look stupid sodie 04-04-2005, 04:04 PM my heart belongs to generation 3... davegranger 04-06-2005, 01:27 PM I love my mkiii because it looks fantastic, but the earlier ones are faster, or so I've heard. MidMazar 10-05-2005, 07:18 AM I love my mkiii because it looks fantastic, but the earlier ones are faster, or so I've heard. of course they're faster, i like the mk4 body, but my heart belongs to mk2s termitesgraffix 10-05-2005, 09:02 AM A properly tuned MK1 is faster of corse. Lighter = quicker. My heart was stolen by a lil philly named MK1 ;) kap0ne 10-05-2005, 09:52 AM i like the mk1 and mk2 for the reason that they are easy to work on and tune i just bought a mk4 gti vr6 this week and it has all kinds of motor crap wrong with it cuz the car is more advanced then they use to be 15 years ago like coil maf plugs wires and 02 sensor 100ina45zone 11-18-2005, 09:11 PM have you guys seen the 5? i like the 4 better but the 5 is good as well. it is out in europe, but im not sure about the US. its a little bigger than the other golf/gti models. mrtank 11-21-2005, 07:23 AM the a3 is the best without a doubt i like it because of the shape rather than the performance dodgey gear box but it looks sweet Holiday forum (http://www.holidaysforum.com) | Cocktails (http://www.cocktailfun.com) | Cell Phones (http://www.supremecell.com) | students (http://www.studentsforum.co.uk) | People Search (http://www.speeps.com) | Cell Phones (http://www.talkcellphones.com) | RSS Search (http://www.feedsfarm.com) | Holidays (http://www.holidaysforum.co.uk) | Vacation (http://www.talkvacation.com) | Study Forum (http://www.talkstudies.com) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
