I have a 97 neon lx that is overheating. The fans are not kicking in but the mechanic cannot find the sensor. Any help would be appreciated.

Look under the battery box on drivers side. I am having the same problem. I called the dealer and they explained the part to me. It is 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 with a plug on the bottom it is mounted with 2 screws on the uni-body. I am almost sure this is fan relay as the dealer has explained to me. They told me the relay is anywhere from 50-75 $$. Please let me know if this works for you. I was also wondering if your Neon is A DOHC. I am starting to think this is the only model that has the fan relay located on the uni-body. You can also hardwire it to a fuse in fuse block, so it will run when the ign. is on.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean by a DOHC. I found out that the head gasket had gone in the end and i have now changed the car. Hope you get your problem sorted.

I am a good troubleshooter and I knew I had a bad relay but had no idea where it was. That was it, I bypassed it and the fan came on. I have a SOHC so its not exclusive to the DOHC models, but some neons have the relay with the fuses. That would have been to easy though. Thanks again.
