I bought the 94 accord ex with an automatic transmission. My goal is not very attainable, but possible. My friend has a 9000s saab that i want to beat in a road race. I have driven this car and know that it will allways kick the crap out of mine if the drivers were equal, the thing is is that he is afraid to put his foot on the gas. What i was wondering is how i might gain a bit of an edge over him. Would you sudjest turbo or supercharger? Or anything else that might help me out...

Thanks

Something simple is a Cold Air Intake

how much can a cold air intake plus exhaust raise the horse power?

Not much. Maybe between 5-10 hp. I/H/E combo usually adds like 10-15 hp, it also depends on what kind of engine you have.

If this is a road race and your apponent is afraid to get on the gas, you should modify your suspension and get wider tires. It's good to have extra HP, but if your car goes in and out of turns like crap, what's the purpose of the HP?
If you can out handle him, you have a pretty good chance of beating him in a road race.

But depending upon the model Saab he has, you may be in trouble. These are the available engines for the Saab 9000

170-hp, 2.3-liter I-4
200-hp, 2.3-liter I-4 (Turbo)
210-hp, 3.0-liter V-6
225-hp, 2.3-liter I-4 (Turbo)

I drove a 99 SaaB Turbo at my last shop. That mother fucker was bad ass! When the turb okicks on that car it really grunts. Give yourself some more ponys and drive it like you wanna die.
