does anyone know if the 97 dodge neon cars with the 2.0 sohc motors have a mass air flow sensor and where it could be. plus need help when the a/c compressor kicks in when heater is on the car will speed up real fast then die down the compresser will kick in and out with in a sec or two and keep kicking in then right back out and keep doing it till turn heater off . the car is going through to much gas you can smell it after driving it for awhile, replaced everything known to tell the computor to give it gas . except map sensor and i was told about the mass air flow sensor but not sure were it is. any help would be appreciated.

i havn't had much to do with neons but i'll try to answer your questions. the ac is suposed to cycle on and off when the heater is on defrost, this removes moisture from the air to help clear windows. the mass airflow sensor will be located near the air filter either in the air box or in the ducting. if your ac compressor is cycling on and off super fast it is low on refrigerent. if it comes on when the heater isn't set to defrost the switch might be bad. the engine is supposed to rev up a bit when the ac kicks in but if it revs up too high you are low on refrigerent. try unplugging the connector to the compressor as a temperary fix. if you have a map it's probably mounted on the firewall and will have a vacuum line leading to it. did you check the fuel pressure?? you might have a bad regulator.. you might also have injectors that stick open. instead of throwing money at sensors get a shop to test them with a scan tool. check your throttle body. dodges have been known to develop deposits in the throttle body.
