Issue with my X -

For a few months my blinkers when turning either way, the flasher or at least what I think was the flasher would make almost a studdering sound, but still worked. As it got colder, they stopped working altogether until the X would warm up. Now, they don't work at all.

What I thought to be a rather simple thing to fix apparently is not.

Questions -

1. Where the heck is the signal flasher located?

I have called the dealership, and they have told me that I have to take the steering wheel off and that it is located somewhere between there and in the dash. Nice answer eh? NOT.

I really, as do most people, don't want to get into a 200, 300 dollar trouble shooting ordeal just to replace a fricken $7 item.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,

Chris

PS: The Xterra manual sucks :(

Actually, I'm on here with the same question.

Where the heck is the flasher? Mine have quit working as well, and I can't find it to switch it out.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Michelle

I think it is tucked under the dash by the brake pedal. Turn your hazards on and go under there a listen for the flasher relay. Or you can feel different relays there until you feel the one clicking. Are you good at YOGA?

Thanks for the help, but it's not working at all, so I can't hear the clicking.

True. But your going to have to still take a look up under the footwell area of the driver's compartment. There are only but a few relays if I remember tucked up there. Buy the OEM flasher from the dealer and them look and see if you can find one thats the same. Trail and error might come into play here. But just testing relays won't hurt anything. Also check the fuses. Locations 2 and 17 on the fuse block. OK. I just look at the wiring diagram and the flasher relay has 3 wires. Green, white/green, black. Also just went and looked. It is above the brake pedal. Mounted up near the steering column. It's black. Good luck.

Let me know if that fixes it. If not, a few other possibilties exist.
