corvette rear axleleew347 02-15-2004, 03:32 PM darkred could any one please tell me what the maximum power you can put through a standard c5 corvette rear axle -Josh- 02-17-2004, 05:12 PM What do you mean? What final drive gears would someone use? And for what, we talking hot off the line, or good top speed? Or do you mean how much can a rear end handle? As much as you put to it, if anything breaks down it will be the tranny first. Unless of course you have way to much torque, but i doubt you will be putting so much torque to it that it will snap. Is it your car, or are you just asking in general? leew347 02-22-2004, 09:55 AM no i mean the power rating of stuff like the drive shafts without twisting MagicRat 02-22-2004, 02:58 PM no i mean the power rating of stuff like the drive shafts without twisting The corvette tuners, such as Lingenfelter are using stock rear ends with as much power as they possibly can get out of a stock block Corvette engine, which is to say, 500+ hp. As with most high performance cars, what overstresses the rear end is not the power, but the way its driven. Max power first gear launches, popping the clutch at 5000 rpm are more harmful than the overall hp of the engine. Sticky tires only makes the situation worse. -Josh- 02-23-2004, 08:52 AM what he said. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
