How could such a car be so cheap? I drive a pontiac grand prix and the supercharged version is like $6000 more! Is it the first time they have VTEC on neons??

Oh and what does SRT stand for??

It's pretty simple actually. Take a car such as the Neon R/T. They're about 17,000. Add some new body panels, some seats and guages on the inside, throw in a new engine and transmission, LSD, 17-inch wheels and tires. For the finishing touch, add a modified suspension. All that would cost you say 4-5000 dollars extra if they were all options. Where would that leave you on price? between 21-22,000 dollars. Hey, lookie there, it's an SRT-4. Which stands for Street and Racing Technology if i recall. And, btw, they don't have VTEC, or any other form of variable valve timing. You're thinking of Honda, Toyota, Acura, Mitsubishi.

Well take a second look at the Dodge website! The 2004 SRT-4 has a DOHC Vtec and it also has a supercharger which would cost you about 2500 to install.

Dude you are waaaaay off. Both years of the SRT4 have used a 2.4 DOHC engine, but neither used variable valve timing(this is what VTEC is, but VTEC is proprietary honda tech/terminology). Also, while it is forced induction, it is a TURBO, not a supercharger. Mitsubishi to be exact. Perhaps you should take a third look at the Dodge website? I'm there right now.

Close. SRT stands for "Street and Racing Technology". And yes, "4" is for the number of cylinders. There will be other SRTs for sale very shortly.

SRT-10 Viper and Ram
SRT-8 Magnum
SRT-6 Crossfire

i have only run 1/8 mile it is the only track close to me. my fastest time was a 9.81 and i have been told that it should be a 15.2 to 15.3 1/4. i figure that i good. i still have to get my header, high flow cat, underdrive pulley, and maybe a new computer. The computer is $300 and i do not know if i want to spen that kind of cash for 3 hp. oh well i love this little car it is a ball.

These SRT-4s are fast man!! The only thing I can do with my grand prix and win is a head on collusion.

Scatch and 98jade are correct. what jade said is what it originally stood for but DCX relized it didnt make sence so they changed it to what Scatch said by the time it was actually released.

when i bought mine, i was told by the dealer that they are only planing the srt-4 for a three year trip, and that's it....so get the word out quick, maybe they'll sell enough that they'll change their minds

and to add to the srt accronyms...

Superior
Raccing
Tuner

No, they won't change their mind. The PL (Neon) platform is gone after '05, so get 'em while they're hot. B)

There IS supposed to be a new SRT-4 on the new platform, though. I wonder how good it's gonna be....
