I've seen other people post with this problem but I havn't heard a reason for it. My girlfriend has a 95 Monte Carlo that sometimes won't shift out of park. The button on the shifter won't push in. It usually happens after it has sat for awhile. Once we finally get it to move it's ok until we leave it parked for a long period, like overnight. I can't see anything binding or rubbing in the console. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a '95 Z34 that had the same problem, mine was caused by a bad solinoid coming from the brake pedal so the shifter wouldn't allow the button to be pressed because it didn't recognize that the brake was on. Any way I just poped the cover off the center console and disconected the solenoid, haven't had any problems since. This is for a car with the floor shifter, if yours is on the column it would probable be similar but much more trouble.

Thanks! That worked great! I knew it had something to do with that dang solenoid, but it never occured to me to disconnect it. Thanks again
