98 Bonneville dying and hard startingrhale 02-09-2004, 02:43 PM 98 Bonne that will stall during warmup time. Dies or stumbles around 130 degf when car is moving or when idleing. Will start back up, but usually it is somewhat hard to start. I have had it on a veetronics scanner and a engine analyzer when it did this and could not trace the problem. I have replaced ICM module and plugs. I have checked fuel pressure when it stalls and it remains constant. It has to be fire related but i cannot figure it out. Can anyone help? Thanks Rusty :banghead: MOS95B 02-24-2004, 10:40 AM Check your Fuel Pressure Regulator. Mine used to do the same thing, and a new regulator fixed it right up. pcv 02-24-2004, 08:20 PM Check the crank sensor, may be going bad. rhale 02-25-2004, 08:20 AM Update on problem I changed the fuel pressure regulator and the problem seems to be fixed. I checked the fuel pressure when i was troubleshooting the motor and it checked fine. When i took it to a shop the regulator apparently failed completly, motor was blowing black smoke and barely running. They changed the regulator and it works fine now. I still don't fully understand how a regulator could cause the problems i was having but i am happy the car is fixed. I hope this tread will help someone else save a few dollars in the future. Thanks for the help Rusty  vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
