Performance parts for a "senior citizen"BlueBomber 02-08-2004, 10:32 PM I am the proud owner of a 90 Cavalier 4dr. Parts for my "old man" are hard to come by. I am writing in a hurry because I gotta get off the computer, but I can elaborate later if needs be (specs etc). Where can I locate good performance parts, I've heard RK Sport and Manta parts but where else? Thanx. urweak 02-08-2004, 11:25 PM What engine and so on. angel_iz378 02-09-2004, 02:48 PM r u just looking for engine parts or also body mods? i have a 94 and i know how hard it is to find parts for any cavy older than a 95. :banghead: BlueBomber 02-09-2004, 09:49 PM What engine and so on. OK, it's a 2.2 liter inline 4, SOHC, 8 valves, carbureted, in short your basic factory Cavy engine. It's already got an after cat exhaust but nothing else. I did have it rebuilt because the head cracked not too long after I got it (the result of abuse from a previous owner), but there were no mods done to it. r u just looking for engine parts or also body mods? i have a 94 and i know how hard it is to find parts for any cavy older than a 95 Yes, I'm also looking for body mods. I've got wheels and the front and back skirts from a Z24, but it's not quite what I'm going for. It is very difficult to find parts for an older Cavalier. I'm kinda new at this, so I'd appreciate any help I can get. My brother helps me out some, but he's really more into "Hondas" but to each his own. STYLEZ24 02-09-2004, 10:34 PM In my oppinion... not a good vehicle to start with. Get something with a little bit of life in it. Its not worth the effort in a 90 4 door. dont bother. angel_iz378 02-09-2004, 10:59 PM I got this off of another post of a similar topic: "some sites to check out are www.j-body.org www.quad4forums.com www.gmperformancetuning.com some after market sites are www.mantapart.com www.rksport.com www.rsm.com" Also, depending on what u like and how much u wanna spend, Razzi has a kit for "our" cars, actually 2. www.razzi.com. However if u want something agressive, try www.fxdesigns.com. They're a place out of canada. I recently checked into their "combat" kit and they told me it was about $899 for the 4 piece kit... Hope this helps...if u need any more info, mssg me BlueBomber 02-10-2004, 10:24 PM In my oppinion... not a good vehicle to start with. Get something with a little bit of life in it. Its not worth the effort in a 90 4 door. dont bother. Thanks for the advice, but I like a challenge :) . Also, I like things that are "unique", and not many people choose to work on this type of car (as you stated, probably because of the effort involved). No its not that people dont like a challenge, and its not like its unique in any way. Check out www.j-body.org for similar enthusiasts. It just isnt a good investment, because the car will only last a year or two more. unless you plan on doing some major mechanical work, which you may be... anyways, just my $0.02 angel_iz378 02-11-2004, 05:02 PM blue, while it's understandable that other people such as styles may mean well trying to help u save alot of time, money and effort on something like this, all u can really do is decide for urself if U wanna go thru with it...if u love ur little 4-door, then I say go for it, it's ur car do with it as u wish... BlueBomber 02-11-2004, 09:53 PM Yeah, thanks guys for all your help I love my old fellow and hopefully if I take care of him right, we'll have a few happy years together anyway. I guess I better get crackin, thanks again to everyone who replied with suggestions, comments, etc.:iceslolan :iceslolan angel_iz378 02-17-2004, 03:05 PM depending on how long u've had ur "old man" and how many miles he has on him, cavaliers are generally pretty tough. I've had mine 7 yrs now(since she was 3 yrs old) and have put roughly about 150-160k on her. Ive decided it's time for a makeover so she's getting modified. it's not bad now, but id like to improve on my baby, you can check it out if u want, the addy is www.cardomain.com/id/angeliz378 there's also other enthusiasts there that can maybe give u some ideas it did for me BlueBomber 02-17-2004, 09:50 PM Yeah, I've had mine for about 2 yrs now, and he had 63,000 mi on him when I got him. His original owner was an old lady, who sold him to the guy I got him from. That guy really abused him so I had the engine rebuilt. The engine's got 25,000 miles on it now (since the rebuild) and a new tranny (it's automatic). I guess if I take care of him, he'll get me where I need to go.
