'86 Dodge Omni vs '65 Shelby GT350nvrenough 02-08-2004, 02:11 AM I am new to the AF website, but I thought that this would be of interest to the Dodge fans. A 1986 Dodge Omni GLHS can beat a 1965 Shelby GT350. I couldn't find the article, but I found the stats. ...........................'65 Shelby GT350.......'86 Shelby GLHS Weight.....................3000 pounds.............2300 pounds Horsepower.................306hp.................. .....175hp Torque.................329 ft.-lbs @ 4200.....175 ft.-lbs @ 4600 rpm Engine Type..................V8.........................I nline 4 Displacement...............289ci.................. .......135ci Induction.............Single 4-Barrel.........Multi-Port FI/Turbo/Intercooled Transmission.........4-Speed Manual...........5-Speed Manual Brakes F/R................Disc/Drum...................Disc/Drum 0-60............................7.0................. ..........6.7 1/4 mile....................15.7 @ 91mph............14.7 @ 94mph Skidpad..................... .76g....................... .88g 60-0 ........................140 ft........................121 ft. -The Stig- 02-08-2004, 03:03 AM Pretty interesting, Although the Dodge Omni was tuned by Shelby if I'm not mistaken. The Omni GLH (Goes Like Hell) wasn't a joke, pretty potient little cars. But pretty rare, I don't remember the last time I saw one. nvrenough 02-08-2004, 03:19 AM Carol Shelby is Da Man!!!! ironman502 02-08-2004, 04:42 PM Yeah, and the neat part is that the Omni looks like a dinky little econobox! I saw one at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum with just over 8,000 actual miles. I like my Shelby Lancer better though- same powerplant, just more luxurious. The engine was designed, built and tuned by Chrysler and the transmission was designed by Chrysler and built by Getrag of Germany. That is the way it was with all the Turbo Dodges, Chryslers, and Plymouths. Shelby simply put the powerplant in cars that Chrysler wasn't. Also, any car with the Turbo II, III, and IV is pretty rare. I think there were only about 500 GLH cars produced each year. I will have one for my Auto-X project. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
