BOV TipxToRQuEx 02-07-2004, 11:44 AM Ive learned, from the experts you could say, that using the stock BOVs are way better than the aftermarket BOV's. When I bought mine, it had after markets, but I had the stocks put back on, because they have been proven better through mistrial with those guys at RBM. They had bought a $400 BOV that had to get custom mounted, did all the work, got it on there, and got worse results, turned around, and put the stocks back on there, and got great results. I dont know if any of you have realized this or have had similar results, just thought I would share. They usually rework the BOVs through the intakes somehow too, i dont really have the details on that, might have something to do with it. ill be sure to ask exactly what they did on that, i had so much going on getting it paid for and workin all the details i cant remember every detail :p anyways, later guys RazorGTR 02-07-2004, 03:08 PM If the car is bog standard ie turbos and intercooler I would agree the factory ones are adagquite enough. Change to a bigger turbo, bigger front mount and want to run more boost then 1.1 bar the no. The factory ones leak or have a tendancy to leak at higher boost settings. They are also unable to to cope with greater volumnes of air, that you would get with a thicker and larger intercooler and bigger turbos. I've got a Trust Type R single conversion done on my GTR. It vent's to atmosphere instead of plum back. I've go no problems with it as it is SET UP right. When I had my R32 GTS-t I put a much bigger turbo setup on it, big front mount and again put a Trust Type R on it. After spending the time to get it set right, I had no drams or problems with it and got way better performance out of the car overall. So in saying that there are more than just one variable that needs to be taken into consideration. From what you just said it sounds like honestly they didn't either know how to set it/them up right or it was over kill for the application. xToRQuEx 02-07-2004, 05:16 PM Im sure it was set up correctly, this is what these people do. As for application, ill ask which one they were putting it on. I think it was either Big Bird(Yellow GTR R33 from F&F and several magazines) or Nicks GTR32 they entered into the USCC. but yes i totally agree that it would matter on the setup variables alot. ill ask later on, but they said overall they preferred the stock BOVs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
